Sanctum Ophidia. Troll bridge.

Tried to find new threads about this trial but failed, so hopefully I'm not duplicating the topic.

Even before Blackwood in Sanctum Ophidia Troll boss on the bridge (and in general EVERY troll of the same type as the boss) at some point killed the raid. At first, it seemed to be due to poison, if it stacked underfoot from several players. And when boss used some abilities, every poison stack fired at the same time, and player received 50-60k damage.

But after numerous attempts to go through, it turned out that nothing at all depends on the poison, because even those, who were not infected, for some reason received damage from poison too. And in the end, what we took for a change in mechanics turned out to be a trivial bug.

There was even an assumption that this is revenge for a long-term exploit of this boss and it was expected that Blackwood would fix everything, but no. Nevertheless, we have already found another exploit, how to get around this completely ridiculous bug. I really can't even explain what exactly is happening there, because we ourselves still do not understand what exactly is happening and under what conditions. Because sometimes a raid wipe happens simply because it happens, outside of any boss or mechanic actions.

I would like to ask you to fix it, because I will be extremely surprised if no one has informed you about it before me.

    There were several threads on this, a while back. I think people gave up on posting because it was never acknowledged. I know the raid groups in one of my guilds will not set foot in vSO until this is fixed, because it really isn’t a learnable mechanic so much as RNG as to whether the fight will nuke you or not. Feels like a waste of content.

    No fixes mentioned in the new PTS notes either.

    I read on another thread somewhere that the poison (or something) acts like vicious death (e.g. when one player dies it does dmg to surrounding players).

    Yeah, what spin said. For whatever reason, they added a vicious death-like mechanic to all troll poison in the dungeon. The only issue is that the associated AoE is much, MUCH larger than the spreadable poison AoE, which means that even if everyone in a party is perfectly spread apart so no circles overlap, one person dying can wipe the team. And since the poison explosion doesn't telegraph the AoE, we can't even really figure out its range.

    And yet, in this case, I do not understand the position of developers, because there was nothing like that in patch notes about mechanics changes. It is sad that, most likely, even this question should not be answered.

    Hopefully, the problem was noticed and at least in this year SO will be playable again.

    Maybe. Though I do have to say that it's not particularly comforting to see it go reported and unacknowledged until they do it on stream.

    Have you read today’s patch notes?

    After Rich Lambert discovered it was “kind of broken” on stream, they got a fix in not too much later on the PTS.

    Now to see if that actually worked…
