Bored Man Hollows

Okay, I have finally got around to getting the ring of the Pale Order and omg getting the lead from the bad man hollows is sooooooooo boring. At least the Wrothgar wbs are fun. Cold rock diggings took six tries for me, so not great but not infinite time like I have heard unlucky people have had. But this bad man hollows lead, how long is the chance because I have been in here for hours just running in circles. I even collected the Ring of the Wild Hunt Lead and another furnishing lead instead of the actual lead I want.

I mean there is at least another 5 people in here with my running around and around.

Why are there grinds like this in the game, I am not enjoying myself here, I opened videos on another monitor to actually keep myself entertained.

I'd love to just give up on getting the ring of the pale order but I have been stuck on the last round of VMA since the CP got changed and I could no longer heal enough from Crit surge to stay alive the ring of the pale order is my only way out of this VMA lock. :/

Any way pointless complaining thread, feel free to complain about the lead you can't get below.

It took me three weeks of 2-3 hours a day in Bad Man's Hollows to get the lead. I did the quests on every character who had not yet done it. I got more shoulder pieces than you can throw a stick at. But the lead... no...

When it finally dropped, the ring didn't help me in vMA. I'm still stuck on the last boss.

Terrible mythic rng aside, what exactly are the issues y'all are running to on the last boss? People have beaten vma years before pale order ever was created.

Are the guards killing you? Run tight circles around them. They're slow to turn.

Is it the crystal phase? Burn two crystals then jump back down to reset the upstairs damage. Kill the guard and go back up.

I have beaten the last boss before the ring was created. What changed was Crit and CP were nerfed and now I can't crit enough to heal to stay alive.

It's actually mostly the Daedroth that is killing me.

Think I bagged it in 30mins (wasn’t a painful one for me) - Shadowfen water plant farming was a lot more fun; highly recommend that!

The huge issue is that leads get placed into areas with not many resources, enemies and so on.
MH has a fairly small amount of mobs, so even 2 extra people in there with you will make getting the lead x10 longer.

Same went for Shadowfen water nodes, or foul fishing spots in Murkmire. They made sure to give everyone the lowest chance by putting the lead in places where you can't efficiently grind for it.

You can get lucky and get it in 5 minutes, or 5+ hours. Here's to hoping future leads will not be as bad, but we all know the sad truth. Recent Chapter with DSA and so on proved yet again none of our time is valuable to anyone apparently.

Best of luck OP, may you get the lead and never have to set foot in there again.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! All these people saying the ring makes VMA into a doddle and yeah, I still die to his stupid Crematorium guards on the last phase :(

On topic, the lead dropped for me from the skeever boss, I didn't bother with the mobs since there are so few of them. The bosses are pretty close together in there so I just camped between a couple of them and ran back and forth. Got all the leads I didn't want first, but I'd say it only took me between 1-2 hours. But that's RNG I guess.

I don't know what sets/skills etc you're running but try swapping in a set that gives more crit, or else slot vigor for the final fight if you're having trouble. I managed with crit surge as my only heal, but a lot of my mechanics advice is summed up with:
Are the guards killing you? Run tight circles around them. They're slow to turn.

Is it the crystal phase? Burn two crystals then jump back down to reset the upstairs damage. Kill the guard and go back up.
And DO use the various buffs the arena gives you, that's what they're there for.

But also keep slow grinding the lead as RotPO is still stupid strong for solo play generally. If you haven't already, look up the past threads with tips for farming a bit less painfully. Good luck :)

For a first clear definitely use the sigils. My suggestion is DPS the boss till he jumps then grab the healing sigil, run to the boss and bash him. Kill the CG and the dremora then DPS the boss till he goes upstairs. If the next CG appears you must kill it before going upstairs. Drop an ulti on the first crystal and focus the second crystal. You can probably get this down before the wall appears. If you have to go back down, so so but by dropping the ulti on the first crystal you should be able to get all 3 down in one trip. Once you're back down grab the shield and speed sigils in that order, DPS the boss while you run round collecting gold ghosts. By the time you get the 3rd ghost and the stun is available you should have your ulti back. Try to stack the boss on the CG then use the synergy to stun them, drop ulti and this will definitely finish off the CG and the boss will be nearly dead too. You can pretty much ignore the summoners, just get the boss dead before they have time to finish their ritual.

Gear isn't a replacement for knowing the mechanics. If you don't follow the specific mechanics of the fight, you will never complete it.

I quit the game for a while afterwards. It was hard to come back as I felt nothing but tedium and boredom when playing after that mess. Why would anyone design a part of the game to be so soul crushing and drawn out and dull if they didn't want to burn someone out. So [snip] weird.

The funny and sad part is that, while I'm pretty sure you're talking about the lead grind, your words work equally well for farming vMA :D

Remember everyone, take your grinds and farms in small bits interspersed among the content you prefer. Nothing in this game is worth getting burnt out over o:)

Ha kind of know what you mean, I actually started doing VMA because NMA was too easy for me and swapped over once I got my first Maelstrom staff (I got 4x 1h and shields in first 4 runs LoL).

But VMA is definitely engaging compared to running in circles just killing whatever I ran into

I had to spend 10 consecutive hours literaly watching water grow in Shadowfen for the kilt lead, and that wasn't even the first session, so I've been there OP. Hang in there, get something fun to watch on another screen and eventually it will drop.

I'm currently up to 13h in BMH looking for that lead and I'm not going to go back in there until one of my alts gets to that area. Then at least I can have a quest to do while running around killing things.

I love that most had to go grind for this while I walked in and got it first time but I do know how people feel as it took 20 days to get the lead from Remains Silent

    Good News everyone!

I got the lead within a minute of re-enerting bored man hollows and then used the Ring of Pale Order to complete VMA and then!... I got the perfected Maelstrom bow :)

Anyway to be constructive the lead should just be "kill x monsters" or at least increase in likelihood every time to fail to get it until it is guaranteed after a reasonable amount of time so we aren't doing boring grinds when we could actually be enjoying the game.

    Hey congrats!

I agree that leads and general farming would be better with rng that weighs increasingly in the player's favor over time. Someday perhaps :)

Last time I did Pale & Wild Hunt for nth char, I did both on one sitting if I remember right. First running in circles for mobs lead then camped the snake boss for a while for the other one. Of course 25 transmutes per ring would make moar sense, but I needed leads to max the treasure chest passive for another char. (And the Coldharbor resource node one appeared to not drop as much as before for some reason.)

I'm just not that good with self-heals and ROTPO helps keep me alive.

Now that I've finished my build post-Blackwood, I think I could give it another try. I hit a wall on the Control Guardian.
