Your BG Endeavor brings free riding to a new level

BG free riders are always here and there's no punishment at all.

In the past, some players might pick a 5 matches quest, entered the game, and never left the base.

Now with the 5 BGs Endeavor, free riding becomes more serious.

You must do something to punish those selfish behavior.

I suck in BGs, but I still do my part to the best of my ability, so there's a big agree here.

I wish that there was some kind of auto-detect where it'd kick those players out after a certain amount of time and replace them where they didn't get credit for the endeavor or the match if the team somehow pulled out a 1st or 2nd place spot. I'd even throw in a 10 minute cooldown to really make them reconsider it.

Yep there should be some kinds of punishments. The game also should not simply grant AP or XP or Endeavor or whatever simply because a player entered the BG.

The easy rewards encourage selfish free riding. It's definitely not the first time I met free riders in BGs.
It's unfair to people want to contribute. Please do something, ZOS.

If they can have the game tell the difference between a disconnect/lag issue vs just afking to do dailies then yes I agree that something should be done to make sure everyone is participating. As I don't imagine that's something that is possible I think it's probably a no go as I don't want people who have bad connections to get punished. I can remember when they had matchmaking issues and wouldn't actually fill a game but if you quit you still got the penalty.

People should be at least attempting to play as a team member in a team game mode though.

If you're up at base the entire match (upwards to fifteen minutes), it's not a bad connection. :D

Probably not no, but I also mentioned Lag. When I'm in certain activities I will get mad spikes that turn my game into a slideshow. Thankfully for me it's usually brief but I can remember it being a lot worse before I was able to get fiber. I don't know if this can happen in ESO, but an issue I use to run into frequently in other games is the level not loading for me but everyone else had no issue and began playing while it looked like I was just sat there. So yeah there are reasons for someone to be sat still that long. Do I think it is common? No, probably not but I'd rather not penalize people unnecessarily. I would rather they err on the side of caution than take on draconian measures.

There's a difference though between latency and connectivity issues and someone blatantly staying at base getting a free ride. If you're not able to contribute to the group, honestly, BGs aren't suited for you.

Edit: Furthermore, Oceanic has some of the worst ping imaginable and most that I've went up against in BGs as well as played with contributed more than you think for that matter. There's literally no excuse for you to stay at base more than five minutes and not try to contribute.

    True.
Sometimes the free riders I met even kept talking sh_t with group chat. Obviously they were not encountering connection problems but simply being selfish. I reported some of them but still met those players later.

If players keep staying in the base and doing nothing, at least they should not earn any rewards by simply entering the BG.

There are problems with the BG participation rewarding system. Regardless of whether people are playing BG, Group dungeons, trials, etc. No one should be rewarded by simply standing still for the entire round or say 10+ mins and doing nothing. No excuse.

There should be a floor score requirement. Players should at least earn the bottom line score in order to be rewarded. For example, at least they should deal X amount of damage or heal X amount of health or assist teammates for doing something.

The bottom line score may not be something very high, but this may help encouraging players to do something for the team. Having better incentives of team contribution would be great.

I had a BG where the team ran around naked dancing the entire game. I didn't know why but this would explain it.
