Companions in groups

This one has read the natch potes for today and there is no mention of a fix for the issue where you cannot summon a companion if your total group number exceeds four - including companions.

This is really an issue for this one and others she knows because most of the things we do to get combat xp are in a group larger than this - such as at guild events.

We know the total number in a group cannot exceed 12. We do not like this but we know it.

However in order for everyone to use a companion you cannot have more than two travellers in a group - when really it should be six.

Is this being looked at still? This one would just like confirmation that you know it is an issue and plan to address it as soon as you can.

It has now nearly been a month since we first travelled to Blackwood..

    I regret that I can only give this thread one agree.

    We were able to work around this be dropping group after sharing quests, but it is annoying that we can't stay in group and have our companions up.

    This feature/bug discourages group play for all the various daily quests and needs to be updated.

    Agree completely. I have no problem with companions counting as part of a group. I understand a group count max of four for group dungeons and 12 for anything else. So the problem really is overland grouping. I won't group as more than a duo for overland until this problem is fixed.

    While we are on the subject of companions yes this one has a thought.

    Levelling them is pure agony. The exp bar seems as still as a warm desert evening.

    So why not have some daily quests that reward a decent chunk of companion xp?

    Just a thought.

    Curious if you've tried having 5 real players, and then summoning companions?

    The grouping system is/was coded to have a threshold for "normal" being 1-4, and then an extended any number above that. When making groups in the past like in zone chat or whatever, there is/was a prompt about 'do you want to make this group extended' or something like that.

    So companion summoning may simply never trigger the 'extended' group, though if you already had an extended group of 5 players, maybe it would work?

    I have, it doesn't work.

    The only place you can summon companions when you already have four or more party members is in trials. When you're in a trial, you can summon three companions in a team of three, four companions with four players, ect. Outside, even if you have a fifth member, you cannot summon a companion.

    There is one significant caveat to this. If a party member is alone somewhere, then they can summon their companion, but it de-spawns as party members wander over.

    There are alot of permanent 'features' in the game ;)

    My companion sometimes gets unsummoned when there are only two of us in the group. I really can't figure it out.

    If you have a merchant or banker, summoning them will put your companion away.
