No longer able to wayshrine to group/guild member in northern Coldharbour?

It seems something has changed with Coldharbour wayshrines. Up until recently I was able to wayshrine to a group/guild member at any wayshrine in coldharbour except for Reaver Citadel and Endless Stair even if my character had not done any coldharbour quests.

However, tonight I am trying to get a new character up there to do the 2 delves and am not able to wayshrine to either of the normally accessible locations (Orchard and Manor of Revelry).

I tried via group window and guild roster as well as the direct group invite prompt and none worked. I was able to go to any of the wayshrines to the west and east sides.

I've found that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. What you can do, if you're guildmates are helpful, is have them go into one of the delves in northern Coldharbor, then port directly in. You can step outside when you're done and walk to the available wayshrines.

I tried and unfortunately it wouldnt work. It would always deposit me at the top wayshrine in the western section of the zone. It was pretty recently that I did this on another character and it worked fine so I suspect something has changed.

You need to have opened up the northern part of the map by questing for most of those wayshrines.

Up until recently that wasnt necessary. You could not just walk up there but you could port to someone. I have been doing that for years when I want to get an alt through the delves without having done the harborage/coldharbour quests yet.

Update: after taking the character through the first 3 harborage quests I was able to port to a group member in a norther delve then exit. I'm not sure if the harborage quests were the trigger or if it just wasnt working yesterday for some reason.

I was able to get to the Reaver Citadel through an unsuspecting guildie a few weeks ago on two alts, one of which had no main quest completion and the other few or none (it's been a while since I leveled him and I'm not in game to check right now). Then today I was able to give someone a port to the Orchard through the group window, though they were a random person so I'm not sure about their quest completion

Still, might be an addon causing issues?

It's been locked with the main quest for a while now. Maybe a years time or a little more? Found out the hard way trying to cheat a piggyback off a guildie on a new toon too

To be honest, this is not a "problem", because it has a clear intended "solution": Do enough of the Coldharbour quest line to legitimately open up its northern areas.

In my book it's a mistake to let anybody into Coldharbour at all until they've completed their own side's faction quests across all zones, you should have to have the "Hero of (Your Faction)" title to access Coldharbour at all - AS WELL as the Harborage quest, and neither wayshrines nor teleporting there should be possible until you go there the first time from your Fighters Guild teleport.

I mean, okay, let people explore each other's faction zones as well as their own, let them do their own faction quests in whatever order they please, rather than being fixed to the order of the zones (Stros-Betnikh-Glenumbra-Stormhaven-Rivenspire-Alikr-Bangkorai, Khenarthi-Auridon-Grahtwood-Greenshade-Malabal-Reapers, Bleakrock-Bal Foyen-Stonefalls-Deshaan-Shadowfen-Eastmarch-Rift), and of course let them do the other chapters as they please... keep One Tamriel conditions everywhere else...

BUT. Coldharbour should be special. One Tamriel should be One TAMRIEL - Coldharbour is by definition not in Tamriel, and should be quest-locked until the appropriate pre-requisites are complete.

Make it so that you *have to have actually completed your own faction - not just its final quest but all zones and become Hero of the Covenant, Pact or Dominion* before you can do the Stirk part of the Harborage quest, and *have to have completed Stirk and opened the portal from the Fighters Guild* before you can enter Coldharbour by ANY means, be it wayshrine or teleport-to-player, and *have to have completed East and West Coldharbour* before you can enter North Coldharbour by any means, including wayshrine or teleport-to-player.

(And for people who have bought the Coldharbour Surreal Estate: Allow all toons to teleport in, but make it so that walking out of the door, with a toon that doesn't yet have Coldharbour access, deposits you back at wherever you teleported in from. Or if that's a place you can't teleport back to, it deposits you at the wayshrine in Wayrest, Eldenroot or Mournhold.)

This would also get rid of the issue of people being able to do Cadwells Gold or Silver (the two other factions) and be credited for it without having properly finished the Bronze.

Of course, it's probably too late to change this back now, without working out a way to grandfather in all the people who already have beaten Molag Bal without completing their own faction, just by doing only Harborage, Stirk and Coldharbour. But at least we could still quest-lock people out of North Coldharbour if they haven't completed East and West, by disallowing teleport-to (all other players including guildies, friends and group mates, and also disallowing teleporting-to in all the interior areas too), as well as disallowing wayshrine into North Coldharbour.

I can agree with you on Coldharbour, but not Stirk and the main quest.

Those quests are unlocked at certain character levels and actually, you have to finish this main questline before you can start Cadwell’s Silver and Gold, so I don’t see how that could possibly work.

Oops I misread. You meant just complete the faction quest for that character.

Those quests have not been unlocked at character levels since One Tamriel. YEARS ago.

Also, you don't have to finish your faction quest line any more - my belief is that you *should* have to, as per the original design: it used to be that you had to finish your own faction's quest line AND the Harborage quest line before you could unlock Stirk and thus Coldharbour.

If you want to lock access to Coldharbour, you'll need to do something about the Luxury Vendor only being in Coldharbour, and all those guilds with guild traders there.

I guess it’s been years since I ran a character through that main questline. When the last one hit level 50 I was already running PvP with her and never got back to questing.

I wouldn’t want any more restrictions on this personally - I ran my main through her faction quests and both Cadwell’s Silver and Gold. I’m not doing that again. I might have got my first alt’s faction quests done but I haven’t for the other two.
