Companions talk too much - pls, adjust "infrequent" option

After 3 weeks of Bastian company I just hated him. I really liked him at beginning, but I just can't listen to him anymore. Every time this long monologues when we go to city or mage guild... "Great area for harvesting" literally in every place where I picked random mat, even in freaking desert. And when he keep asking "what's you gonna do with this" I always reply in my mind "I will put it in your god damn mouth and silence you forever".

I switch to Mirri and this is relief, she don't talks that much as Bastian, but I'm afraid that I will hate her too in couple weeks :(

I use "infrequent" option since beginning, but it's not infrequent at all. They talk and talk and never stops. Infrequent option should be something like 5-10 times rares than now, because it's not big difference from "frequent". Option "mute" and "almost never" should be also there.

I really like whole idea of companions but if I have to spent hundreds of hours with specific companion, you can't just destroy my brain with so much repeating. I get it, you want it to make first impression "they have so much to talk in so many different situations". But now I know it and I'm sick tired ot this. This is just pocket version of "dragons in your own homeland".

    lol

I've grumbled similar retorts in his direction, so I know how you feel. My worse is when he goes "Huzzah!"... or what ever it is he says. That one makes me cringe especially bad. I also get the cringe when I heal him and he starts acting like he's getting.... actually never mind. I better not finish that sentence.

Because judging by your examples of the inoffensive comments you seem annoyed by and then wanting an "almost never" or "mute" option it sounds like you don't actually want them to begin with LOL. So what is the point? You get tired of the comments you can simply dismiss them for a time, you have that option. I cannot for the life of me understand the rampant complaining sometimes on this board of compeltely optional things.

I cannot for the life of me understand the annoying people that just object others for stuff that wont gonna effect them on this board.

Another person dont want to listen to stupid lines just so he can use the content he bought. The fix for peoblem is not disbanding companions. Just shut up man. OP wants to enjoy companions, it wont even hinder your game in ANYWAY. You won't even feel it!

I'd interprete this as follows :
"Reachmen consider fires like beings, that need to be entertained and fed. That's why they tell stories by the fires and cook food in the fires".
Lol, in all cringeness of Bastian I thought that he is talking about REACHMEN licking his food and what's worsts - I wasn't even shocked :D

A serious question here : is there any game sound that are really needed for gameplay ? Since all quest dialogue is written too ? I remember some cry from bosses that give fighting clues , but having raid notifier on gives you the same clues in blinking red capital letters.

Unfortunately sound is needed in the occasional quest - and for the fighting clues you mentioned. IIRC there is a Ravenwatch quest in the Markarth epilogue in which the count tells you what you need to do. If the subtitles are on time, you might be able top do such a quest without sound, but since I always play without subtitles, I don't know if that's the case. Another example is the Rigurt quest in Western Skyrim. In fact, it's actually the identical quest to the Ravenwatch one - you are told what to do and need to react, even though the situation is a completely different one.

I usually play without sound and only turn it on when I do zone quests.

I have companion reactions set to "infrequent" in all my characters, still every single time I enter a city and forget to remove the Bastion, the [snip] don't stop crying about how much it loves cities. The text is horrible and the toon is extremely annoying. I'd really like to use it but at this point, after so many recent fixes with no solution for this, I prefer to forget how much time and gold I wasted upgrading this [snip] toon and just quit using it.

Something that could have been a funny upgrade to ESO turned out in something [snip]

My wife and I regularly play together, and we've been making fun of the companion chatter on Mirri since that the comp we both use.

"DID YOU KNOW THAT MIRRI THINKS SHE'S AGREEABLE?!"

"Gosh. Why no, I did not know that! How ever did you learn this?"

"I WENT TO SPACE AND FOUGHT TEN BAJILLION MEGA ALIENS AND WRESTED THIS KNOWLEDGE FROM THEIR COLD, MEATY TENTACLE-CLAWS! For you, my love! FOR YOOOOOOU!"

"Can we do a bit lest wresting? It's not very agreeable."
