What VMA with lag looks like

eskarnrwb17_ESO
Most of the content in this game is pretty easy and you can bring other to help out with the harder stuff like dungeons/trials and some world bosses.
Honestly i should make my gear and build a little better before trying again, below is mostly satire..."Mostly".

VSolo Arenas are designed to be "hard" for <100 ping but when you sit around 270-300 these become a nightmare.
There should be a dedicated server somewhere in the southern hemisphere for VSolo Arena's (ha ha ha yea na mate never gonna happen)

But anyway lets have some fun, and what could be more fun then flying?

Getting stunned with higher ping will slowly drag you back to the location the server had the stun occur .
The reason its a slow pull back is im guessing not to motion sickness everyone but this just adds more idle time so instead of getting stunned for 300ms its 3 1/2 seconds.

What about fields, those big red unhappy circles that when low ping players dodge out of all is good?
Ohhhh that poison level in VMA tis a hoot aint it but what if we increase the difficulty and make it when you avoid the circle you still take its effect?
https://i.gyazo.com/fd6062f6e42187f59b29e0df11cf2d32.mp4
10% armor damage and another soul gem plz.

Or we could have some kind of mechanic that makes it so you cant kill a certain mob and then have it instantly teleport onto the player and if they don't avoid the red circle it stuns them and can 1 shot them. Well well well lets increase the difficulty again and make it do all of that even if you are outside the circle.

Ha ha ha ohhh boi VMA is SUPER FUN and makes me really want to run it over and over and over and over to get the items.
Did you have as much fun watching those as i did?
Do you want to increase your ping just to experience the FUN?

I'm gonna go play something offline.

Yeah, though difficulty-wise I don't find vMA to bad these days, lag is still really bad even when you have a ping of something around 100. 300 ms just seems like torture. I've made maybe three attempt at vet vate and all three were exactly like what you had there. Early on the arena depended on a variety of mechanics that simply do not work with any kind of ping. Period. Thankfully they removed some of those mechs before it came out of the PTS but others (like the one you showed) are still present and still do no account for variable times in ping.

On a technical note the reason you see your character slowly slide back has more to do with the implementation of client-side prediction / server-side authentication ESO has gone with. Long-story-short, where you see yourself while in motion is NEVER where you are on the server simply due to data transit times. It's simply impossible. To help keep motion fluid most games 'predict' motion on the client by running the algorithm on your machine and then packaging up your inputs, timestamps, and resulting position on your machine and sending it off to the server for verification. Most of the time the server will find the results to be reasonably close and no change will need to occur. However, small differences in rounding and timing on different machines will eventually require the server to correct the client. Corrections are also needed when mechanics on the server happen before the client has observed them (as you suggested in your post). In all cases corrections coming from the server back to the client are, by necessity, from the past, which means some magic needs to happen to try to mitigate or hide the effect of these corrections. Depending on the severity of the desync it can be very jarring as you instantly snap back to a previous location or it can be a small and subtle motion that only moves you a foot or so away from where you though you were and over the course of a few frames or even a few seconds. It seems ESO tries whenever possible to perform this motion in a very long and smooth transition over a period of time in all but the very worst of cases - hence the reason you saw that long and drawn-out rubberbanding effect.

On a related note this is also the reason we have issues where we can't loot bodies that are seemingly right in front of us and we can't attack players that are clearly in range of our attacks in pvp (these effects are even worse when you have to take into account TWO clients giving TWO different accounts that then have to be resolved by a central server).

I've had that happen before, most memorably in stage 7... it's the 'will I still be alive when everything resumes' roullette  Also, on a couple of occassions, I fell through a fully reconstructed bridge in vVH... I don't know if that was lag or not, but because it happened before, I take extra care waiting for them to fully stop shaking after assembling, and I still fell through...

Dude this looks so silly when it happens. I've experiencing this a few times, once was in a battleground.

Your character just slowly floats away across space (while ignoring all collision detections. If there is a wall along the way, good luck, cause you're going inside it and out of the map) and there is nothing you can do to have any control over your character. Lasts a few seconds.

One problem at a time, i need to get past the poison plants that spawn under my feet and teleporting Daedroth handlers.
I upgraded all my gear and traited everything correctly so i should be a little bit better stats wise, im thinking The Steed Mundus just so i always have that little bit extra speed to get out of the circles(More out of the circles, like down the street hiding behind the wheelie bin out of the circles)

Also going for the heal on damage mythic ring and hope it helps me tank all the extra hits that i can't dodge.

Should just have a setting for smooth transitions and fast where it just snaps you back.
I'd happily take the jarring snaps over not being able to do anything for that extra time.

Ohhh and don't forget spamming your heal button then you start sliding across the ground and the game says
"Can not do this while dead".... well i was not dead when i started spamming it.

I first completed VMA after months of torture on console, with ADSL 2+ (yes, I am also in Australia) - so add ESO server lag onto already glacial internet. Then I went onto improve my runs and managed to complete Flawless a grand total of ONCE. Now, I always thought that I couldn't do it again because a) I'm crap and b) I should have remembered those mechanics I just died to, and c) LAG.

I switched to PC about a month ago, and on the weekend discovered the little toggle in the Settings that lets you display ping.
Not once, not ONCE have I seen it drop under 300. (In fact, whenever I change zones it shoots up to 800+.)

So now... now I think it's a flipping miracle that I managed to get that one Flawless. At any rate, I'm going to stop beating myself up about it.

The RNG Gods must have been on your side and i can only hope they get tired of torturing me and let me finish it on Vet...
Only to get the set piece i don't need.

I have 300ping at best over the years and have done vma with up to 400ms. I have flawless on every class. Its no fun but doable. I only did it since I was stubborn and with my ping trials was too much of a burden for others. ..... there was no enjoyment in vma.... a masochistic sense of completion.

The effects of lag.....too many to describe but some maybe for amusement in these two very old clips I made.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2Uq52NmzfI

I started when Vateshran first dropped to go for spirit seeker on every class and got through all but stam nb on stam classes.....but really with the lag on 300ms the game functions so badly it really is just not fun.

PVP same, battled through 2 Grand Overlords but the game is just so bad with 350+ ping in Cyrodiil.
