Should we have check name availability

Creating character/name changing character, should we have a "check name availability" without confirming the whole process?

I guess I'm confused. Whenever I've had a name I wanted be unavailable, I just fiddled around until I found a name I was happy with that worked.

I was quite prepared if Marcus Titus Alessian hadn't been available for my new Imperial: Martin Titus Alessian - Marc Titus Alessian - Markus Titus Alessian, and so on.

What's the point of checking name availability, except as an extra convenience? Are you trying out names you wouldn't be happy with? Or is it more about having to scrap a character idea if you can't get the name you want, and wanting to save time?

If you have a few names in mind you could check them all then choose the one you like best of those available.

Thing is, every time i want to create a character with a specific theme, or name, the original idea is already more or less taken. so i want to be able to compare the other available options! for example, on the eu server Ms Hyde, Miss hyde, Dr Hyde, were all taken. which means i need to start searching something similar, just like you said. so i am throwing random similar ideas. being able to check if they are available, will be great help in choosing a name...

It is so silly that a name change token, a crown item, does not give you the option to check name availability.

Choosing from the available ones is so much easier than ranking 5+ options. especially after finding out they are all taken.

Only if you can query the API with a CSV of all your options to see all available ones at once. And who guarantees that one of the names you picked won't be taken between the time you query it and the time you create the character?

Either way, I don't care if it's implemented or not, but I wouldn't bother to use it myself.
