(PS4) Bastian's Ultimate cannot be used 99% of the time

After Bastian finally gets his Ultimate on Level 20,
his Ultimate cannot be used about 99% of the time.
Whenever the Ultimate is FULLY LOADED
and the Ultimate is set to be manually triggered (L3+R3),
whenever the trigger is pressed, the Ulti (almost) never is released,
instead an ERROR MESSAGE is given in the upper right corner (screenshot attached).
The error message given on the German version:
"BASTIAN HALLIX KANN DERZEIT KEINE ULTIMATIVE FÄHIGKEIT BENUTZEN",
Translated to English, this would be (my translation):
"BASTIAN HALLIX CURRENTLY CANNOT USE AN ULTIMATE ABILITY".
Whenever the Ultimate is FULLY LOADED
and the Ultimate is set to be automatically triggered
the Ultimate also (almost) never is released.
I experimented an entire evening, but I could not find out yet what prevents the Ultimate.
I also could not find out why in some very rare cases the Ultimate suddenly works.
My Bastian plays a heavy tank with Sword&Board or Frost Staff.
Playing with Mirri, her Ultimate works nicely as expected.
