What I mean is the game is obviously blurry and unclear to the point where I feel my eye trying to adjust and I suspect that is going to end in a nasty headache after flipping this back and forth depending on the scenario.
It would be one thing if this was 1440 upscale to 4K but that is NOT what it looks like. This is another WTH is ZOS doing moment for me as specific to the Xbox Series X, if they were to allow in settings for it to fully restart the game I think it would work better. Also missing is an option to turn off HDR for the game. I think depending on the size of your TV this becomes more or less of an issue. I just feel like ZOS doesn’t care to understand how the consoles work…some of this stuff is making their game look and perform worse when there are better options for them…requiring less work.
Ideally they would have done this below. I know this is not PC but the consoles actually do different things its not the original PS4 and Xbox One. You have a couple of different iterations to allow for. Let the user select what they feel looks best. I would say some options would not exist for all systems obviously and selecting X would filter out Y and Z. Because a lot of this is already built into the game its just enabling the menu vs locking it to 2 presets that have obvious gaps.
Video Settings
- Native resolution (list 1080, 1440, 4K)
- FPS (List 30, 60, variable)
- HDR (On / Off)
- Shadow settings (List Low, Med, Hi, Ultra)
- Texture settings (Low, Med, Hi)
- View Distance (List of 3 preset values)
- Ambient Occlusion with LSAO and SSGI (On/Off)
- Antialiasing with TAA (On/Off)
- Planar Reflections (List Low, Med, Hi)
- Circular Bokeh Depth of Field
I basically use Fidelity always unless I’m doing something that I need to focus on what going on vs how pretty the game scenery is. As an example I never completed VetMSA so that would be performance.
If I were in a Trial I’d also user performance …maybe…

I'll lose a few pixels for super smooth gameplay.
It's like a whole new world.
(**** those pixels!)
Yes, I know that the 60fps is really cool and smooth. But I personally do miss those pixels on my 55" OLED TV.
I will keep switching for a while.
What I don't understand is why 4K 60fps isn't an option. Isn't the PS5 and Xbox Series X powerful enough to for this? If not, why not offer us to select our own levels of details, shadow, etc so we could have 60fps but with 4K, but for example some less detailed shadows.

Then I wonder how they can promote the PS5 and Xbox series X as being able to go up to 120fps.
