"Gifted Rider" slottable in the "Craft" Champion Tree not working as intended (Temporary Glitch?)

This thread is being made on behalf of a friend. I have helped him trouble shoot the issue to no avail.

When my friend logs onto his orc on his max speed mount he is nearly as fast as I am mount on my own maxed out mount but with gifted rider at 100. He has 3 points in gifted rider.

However when he logs onto his magblade he has 100 into gifted rider but no speed bonus and is just stuck at the default speed that 60% mount speed provides. Clearly something has gone wrong on his magblade but we can't quite figure out what but equally something is wrong on his orc as well? I didn't know orc speed bonus affected mounts as well.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that AvA passives are maxed out on both characters.

What we've tried and did not resolve the issue;

- Swapping mounts
- Costumes
- Making sure gifted ride is slotted
- Making sure its confirmed before exiting the champion screen
- Swapping gear (weird one, but you never know with ESO)
- Changing area (PvP and PvE areas result in the same situation)

Any ideas, thoughts or help will be welcome in resolving this if there is any chance it isn't a bug but I cannot see how its not, the lack of any gained benefit from the slottable makes no sense.

    Both characters have at least 1 point in the Assault passive skill 'Continuous Assault'? That gives a big boost to speed everywhere.

    And Gifted Rider and Continuous Assault are multiplicative, not additive, so their effects will be more than +10% and +30% on maxed mounts.

    All AvA passives are maxed, i'll update the thread to mention that.

    Are you on PC/Mac? If so, can you use an add-on to track the actual speed? That should help narrow down the issue.

    A maxed mount sprinting (i.e. consuming stamina) with Major Gallop and Gifted Rider should hit 286% sustained speed without boosting, falling, or jumping.

    My friend and I am yes, erhm could you tell me which addon provides that? I'll happily get him to download it.

    I believe Minimap by Fyrakin can do it. There may be others as well.

    If you set the speed to show in %, then you should be able to see what is and isn’t counting. Try to find flat-looking stretches of land to test, although even invisible bumps in terrain can unfortunately trip up a mount. (You will see that in the speed meter once enabled.)

    Here is the way speed should be stacking on a mount:

    Jogging/running speed (moving as fast as possible without consuming stamina), no upgrades: 115%

    Sprinting (consuming stamina) adds 30% (different from the 40% sprint bonus on foot)

    Maxed speed training adds 60%

    At maxed speed training, you should reach 205% while sprinting without the Continuous Assault passive granting Major Gallop or Gifted Rider.

    Major Gallop provides 30% and Gifted Rider 10%, but these are multiplicative. You get 266-267% with only Major Gallop (205*1.3) and 225-226% with only Gifted Rider (205*1.1). When both are active they add together and then multiply the 205% value above, so you reach 286-287% (205%*1.4) with all bonuses.

    (Mathematically it should be capped at 287%, at least, but you will see variations in the speed meter on the minimap as you ride. If you boost your mount by hitting sprint again or by trying a combination of falling/jumping, you can actually push past 300% momentarily and even reach speeds as high as 310% or more.)

    ETA: Note that having 3 points in Gifted Rider is the same as having 0. It takes effect in stages, so you need to invest 20 points to see a 2% speed increase. Every 20 points you will get another 2% increase.

    So this is what happened with the addon and its a little weird;

    He tried one more time before adding the minimap addon to get the same speed (he has full CA giving him major gallop), reset all the CP and tried again. Still the same problem. Couldn't keep up.

    Heres where it gets odd; After adding he minimap addon it changed, he was able to keep up with me and he was at 267%.

    Im not quite sure what happened to suddenly fix it by just installing the addon alone. I was even watching him via share screen on discord. Its quite confusing.

    its almost as if the addon did something to make the game recognise he had everything needed where as before it didn't. I am so confused right now.

    Interesting.

    I’d almost think it was an issue where the server and client were not in sync. I remember being told in vAA once that I was out of stack when I was clearly in stack at the time. Turns out everyone saw me as about a meter behind the stack except me — my client was apparently not getting the same info from the server as theirs were, so it showed me in a different position compared to what they were seeing. I wonder if reloading the UI to get the add-on working somehow fixed an out-of-sync issue.

    As long as the speed is the same, though, then this seems like some sort of temporary glitch rather than a systemic bug.

    Yes it reminds me of when all the AoEs in the game were out of whack as well, Fanglair for example where the players were clearly out of the last bosses AoEs but still ended up getting hit by it. This actually still happens on occasion for me in Elden Hollow 1. I'll roll dodge while the AoE from the last boss is expanding but i'll still get hit by it even though im several metres out.

    Hm yes, if it was a bug I'd assume more people would have it unless its a very very rare one. Not everyone uses the forums after all so others maybe experiencing it without reporting it. I know not enough people use the bug report system in game lol

    i'll edit the thread title, though I really wish I knew what caused he glitch, its sort of bizzare.
