    I accidentally killed one of those in the game and thought I had killed a cat. I was mortified! Then a guildy told me what it was.

    Can confirm, they are both real and weird. They're South American rodents which look and act like a cross between a deer and a rabbit. (I haven't yet gotten to visit South America, but they're fairly common in zoos.)

    I didn't realise they're in ESO, but that's pretty cool. I like it when more unusual (aka not North American or European) animals appear in games, especially when they're portrayed accurately.

    Had no idea what a Mara was. Immediately thought it was a named Rabbit and it was some secret Quest giver leading me somewhere.

    So there I am, chasing after a random animal for a good couple minutes, until I eventually run into a second Mara, and put two and two together.

    There's a little two or three tree island up near the Cathedral House that has about 30 or more of these things on it.

    I figured it must be some devs inside joke or something due to just how many they packed onto this teeny tiny island.

    First thing I thought was Capybara's as well.

    Cute things, just lounging around and chilling, with no way to ever cross the huge river surrounding them to get off that little spit of land.

    I think they may need a rescue party! :lol:

    So, clearly there are some mind readers at ZOS who read the forums, because wouldn't you know it, just 3 days after this thread they release the Iron Atronach Crown Crates which include the Stichfur Cavy as an Epic-grade 40-gem-cost drop :smiley:
