You either find a way to manage with artic by increasing health or using other methods or removing artic blast altogether, looking for other options. If you take the second option it puts some pressure on your skill bar as you usually will have to replace artic blast with 2 different skills, 1 for healing and one for CC.
Several options/tips to consider.
The good old max magicka build - The new mythic "Death Dealer's Fete" really buff this play style increasing both magicka and health, which increases shield size(if you go 5 light, 1 medium, 1 heavy). So something like 5 necro, 2 trainee, 1 Death Dealer's Fete, Master lighnting front bar, 2 balorgh , defensive back bar, use the vamp CC or the fighters guild CC.
The good old clever alchemist back bar setup, 5 heavy, 2 light, but this time with 5 Heartland Conqueror, Master lighnting, 2 balorgh. Front bar is sharpened, back bar decisive. Concept of this build is to use Dawnbreaker of Smiting as your main CC for your burst combo and resto ulti when you are in a pinch. The combo of Heartland decisive + the minor heroism potion + Shimmering Shield, will restore your ulties extremely fast.
You can probably go deep into a vamp build using the vamp spammble and even the vamp ulti with sets like "mark of the pariah"+ vamp stage 3 for very high tankyness.

Shields are still absolutely garbage on magden. Tried running several different healing/defensive settups. Nothing was good.
I will definitaly test the max mag build, i played like that when warden was released oft.
I do quite well with the following right now:
- 5x torugs (always)
- 5x Medusa (only Front)
- Mythic or monster set u like (I use snowtreaders with swift jewelry)
- Vateshran / brp ice staff backbar , elemental blockade is needed in both.
- 1x slimecraw
Kajhit
Shadow
Frost glyph front (+10% another crit dmg if chilled, almost permanent),
(Magicka dmg + Health / magicka backbar or the shield glyph, u get every 3 second a 3,2k (u can buff it with cp, I didn’t yet) dmg shield).
Crit dmg cps
Enchants armor Tristat
Jewelry as u like
I run vines and arctic front, so both have around 40% crit chance with 32% crit healing.
Works so far, ofc still no stamden for 1vX, still working around mythic or monster sets.
But will test the max mag build, oh and I also use dawnbreaker front and northern back.

These builds were tested mainly on PTS so no 1vsX action, however both felt quite solid. Things are not as grim as you make them sound. Sure, its not stamden but its very viable.
The suggested build pushes over 50k magicka(with northen storm active) and 30k health without CP. We'r talking 15k-16k+ shield size. How is it garbage? Trick is to find room for it on the front bar. You can resto staff back bar.

I actually dont really like 1 bar pariah.
Whenever you remove a harmful effect from yourself or an ally, you sancitify the ground beneath them and heal them and allies within 8 meters for 1305 Health per stage. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds. (5 stages, 50 pts)
This one CP star, salve of renewal - does that also heal yourself if u remove an effect from yourself?
Thx for the suggestions, will try them probably if I have the armor / resources. Thought most of the builds would work well better on other classes.
What do you guys think of a Frost crit build, I mean, if we chill someone we literally get +20% bonus dmg for free? We could pair it with frost glyph Torug, which can also crit (as a kinda proc set).
Currently working with this build in no cp: https://youtu.be/cx8iYWnxiiQ
It’s not too bad so far. Have already replaced malacath with wild hunt.
Instead of Torugs I would like to try winterborn flame staff front with vateshran ice back, with heartland conqueror and wild hunt with either 1 trainee or 1 monster piece. This is completely dependent on me being able to get a winterborn destro though. (Flame staff b/c I use flame clench for cc).
Previously I used winterborn and torugs, which should still be not bad.
