Sources of Rapport for Bastian and Mirri are not equal?

Bastian gets a rapport boost just by teleporting to a wayshrine from out in the field (as opposed to wayshrine to wayshrine teleport). I have noticed this on multiple occasions. I am almost at the end of the rapport bar and still have not recieved the 3rd quest, Bastian is at mid-level 12 so might the 3rd quest show up at a later level? Or is it based strictly on rapport?

what do you mean by third quest? if you are expecting another quest after the one that unlocks him as placable guest? as far as I know, there isn't one. the quests rather go.. quest 1 - recruitement, quest 2 and 3 - rapport based.

I have seen people mention a 3rd quest in other threads, but if there are only 2 that's fine too. The sooner Bastian is done leveling up, the better as I don't plan on getting any more companions.

Bastian’s can be spammed faster, though. Mages Guild dailies take 5 minutes, give or take, not counting the time to get shares. Fighters Guild dailies take longer, often much longer. I found all 15 MG dailies doable, if a bit tedious, in one day. It took less than two hours all told to get through them all and another hour the next day to finish his rapport. It took me almost an hour, on the other hand, to get 3 FG dailies done because they’re much less efficient, and as a result I didn’t do more than that in a day. Ashlander dailies can’t be spammed, in my experience, so that isn’t particularly efficient for power-leveling Mirri’s rapport either.

It may also be a character design decision that Bastian likes fewer things in total than Mirri. Not everyone has the same (dis)likes or (dis)likes things equally. That’s part of their personality.

Well, it is rather true that Mirri has two dailies that increase rapport while Bastian only has one.

Blazing through the FG dolmens does give enough additional loot & XP to make the marginally increased time to complete completely worthwhile.

Be sure to visit the Mages' Guild with him every day for 10 points and Arteum for another 10. That's not a lot, but with Bastian, every point counts.

Also, if you attack dolmens with him out, he seems to give 5 points for killing the cultists. Not much help if you show up late, but it's something if you make it there before it pops.

His second quest took a while to unlock, but I did get there. Now, maxxed rapport is still a bit of a slog.

The Ashlander relic quest didn't even do anything for me, and I only did it once.

It took me a week longer than Mirri to get Bastian up to max rapport, but I find his personality more pleasing than Mirri's.

Mirri (after surviving a fight with adds as I tanked the boss): "Still here. Thanks for asking."

Bastian (after being eaten to death by a zerg of rats as I tanked the Rat Whisperer, then rezzing himself): "Are you hurt?"

But to stay on topic, one way to level Bastian's rapport a bit more quickly without doing multiple Mages Guild quests each day would be to
    - keep him summoned most of the time (especially for the following things),
    - try to read a book every 15 minutes or so (whatever the cooldown is),
    - scry and excavate several antiquities (he doesn't care about the excavation part, but don't swap to Mirri for that part because she already gets enough rapport leveling from the two dailies that she likes),
    - and keep your eyes out for Psijic portals to loot.
If you do enough of them, the smaller things should add up to the rapport increase you get with Mirri from her second daily.

Bastian's +5 rapport from scrying is infinitely spammable, on demand, and solo-able.

    Step by Step:
    1. Have Bastian out.
    2. Scry any antiquity. Lead colour does not matter. Green is always available in any zone by default.
    3. +5 rapport for completing the scry.
    4. ABANDON THE SCRYED ITEM. This exploits the fact that the lead doesn't disappear.
    5. Wait 5 minutes (this is the cooldown). Quest, kill stuff, or whatever.
    6. Repeat from Step 1.

    Compare this to:
    - hunting for psjic portals (+5 randomly appearing)
    - helping NPCs (+10, randomly appearing)
    - reading books (+1, has 15 min cooldown)
    - killing dolmen cultists (+1)

Bastian's scry-on-demand is something that Mirri doesnt have.
You can't ABANDON a completed excavation, but you can very well ABANDON a completed scry.

This doesn't beat FootprintsInTheAsh's 1000+ rapport / hr method, which requires another player to work. This will be for folks who cannot find a player patient enough to help you with the main toon, alt toon rotation, share & reshare rotation. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/576686/companion-rapport-150-per-hour-vs-1000-per-hour/p1

    useless and known info

+125 from mages guild daily is much more profitable and very well spammable 15 times per day
