No Purple Leads for New Toon

So, I decided to level Antiquities on a new toon. I am up to level 5 and have points allocated to get purple leads, but they are not dropping. What is interesting is when I look at my lead history I see everything my main has done. Shouldn't each toon have their own history of what they have dug up? When scrying a new zone you should get default green, blue and purple leads. I only get green and blue. Help please! :'(

Yeah I hated this too. Makes leveling up antiquities on a new character a pain.

If they're going to make the default purple leads account wide, then they ought to make your levels account wide too.

So, only one default purple lead, per zone, per account? Seriously? Total BS! [snip]

Treasure Maps. Start buying cheap treasure maps and get them done for Ancestral motifs, often of the purple quality. You’ll fill your collection and level antiquities quickly.

Ive leveled 18 characters to max this way and it was quick, efficient, and not obtrusive to casually playing and enjoying other aspects of the game.

If you have more than one toon, you can level antiquities faster on the second than you could on the first, because of this important factor:

When you dig up an antiquity, *both* the Scrying *and* Excavation points are scored by the toon that dug it up, not the toon that scryed for it, if you chose to scry on one toon and dig on another.

Also, you can actually excavate an antiquity of higher difficulty than you can scry, since the limit is only on scrying for them.

So... As soon as your Scrying and Excavation hit 10 on your first character, you can do the following:

    (1) Scry and Excavate all subsequent Green leads that you find, on another character

    (2) Scry Blue leads on your original character, then Excavate them on the second character - it really doesn't require any investment in Excavation skill points to do this.

    (3) Once you have level 2 Excavation on your second character, put a skill point in Trowel, this will give you enough to be able to mostly reliably excavate purple "Advanced" leads on that character, even though you must still scry them on your first. This will get you to level 3 faster than only scrying green leads.

    (4) With level 3 Scrying on the second character, you can invest a skill point to start Scrying your blue leads on that, instead of on the first.

    (5) Once you have level 4 Excavation on your second character, put a skill point in Heavy Shovel. With Trowel, Heavy Shovel and a modicum of skill, you should now be able to excavate gold leads on the second character, even if you have to scry them on the first. This will level up both the Excavation and Scrying considerably faster on the second toon.

    (6) After that... once you get to level 5 Scrying you can start to scry purple leads on the second character, and level 7 Scrying lets you excavate gold master leads on it. At some point you'll want to spend a point or two in Coalescence to help out with the scrying. (I can reliably scry Advanced and Master leads and capture all six foci, with 2 points in Coalescence and nothing else. Ultimate leads are tougher, and may require extra skill points invested in scrying - in any case you have to have level 10 in Scrying by then.)

In fact you will probably find that the biggest issue here is actually getting your second toon to the required locations, since they may not have access to as many wayshrines as the first.

What the devs did in limiting the purple *treasure* leads to once per account is prevent a potential influx of about 2m gold as an incidental reward for leveling these lines. (Presumably they made the gold 100k lead once per account for the same reason -- that'd be another 1.7m available per account.) There are many areas in game in which income or sources thereof are capped, time-gated, or even simply disappeared. This is just one of many.

If it's the ability to level alts that you're concern about, then hopefully the advice posted above will help with that. There are still plenty of purple and gold leads, most repeatable, besides the treasure ones.

I'm currently working on getting my 6th alt to level 7 after my main got to 10 and it's not really hard.

As others have said, get treasure maps for the motif leads, and farm zones that have a purple lead that drops from all loot tables, (Auridon, Bangkorai, The Rift, Eastmarch, Stonefalls, Wrothgar and Coldharbour come to mind)

Personally, I'm not going to bother with level 10 on alts because 7 gives you glowy chests and the increased distance is not that helpful.
