This NPC says things like "What's the point?", "Why go on?" and so forth. I believe I found him dead once but I could be wrong. I know this is minor but his comments aren't funny. If anything (and I know that it is a one in a million chance), it could serve as a trigger to someone who is suicidal or depressed and using ESO as an escape. Could he just be silent?

*Necropost* I was just walking by and hears 'why carry on' and thought that's sad :( (Not triggered but had same thought as you!)

Then it's better not to leave the house at all and not to move. For such a person, the whole world is dangerous, not just TESO.

Because he's facing the wall most of the time, he's a popular choice to pickpocket and then murder. I too would like to know why he is so despondent, but since he has no dialog or quest, I'll just keep on with the thieving and murdering.

I usually hate necro posts but Sortuuya is my favorite irrelavant NPC and it makes me sad to see him dead from people MURDERING HIM!!! ( @Reginald_leBlem ). As someone who has/had the trigger in question, him being depressed doesn’t trigger me. I just want to give him a hug.

Since he’s a crafter with no quest I’ve just assumed that his crafting business isn’t going well and he’s taking a moment to reevaluate his life choices.

There are lots of npcs who have that dialogue (Not sure if limited to the basegame zones?), usually beggars and war refugees. There's a Bosmer in the Davon's Watch tavern (near the bank), for example, but I know I've come across more npcs with those lines.

yes I agree with you, I think it should be remove and replace with different dialogue. that's not a good thing to casually encounter in a game.

ESO is a game with a big war as one of the central story points, the destruction of the whole planet through the Planemeld as the other one, plus all kinds of local threats. People who are desperate, frustrated or depressed are the normal consequence of all these threats and catastrophes. Removing all traces of people actually being negatively effected by these events from the game would make the world seem even more trivial.

I wish we could talk to him, to try to cheer him up. And also so he can't be killed.
