To help keep bots/etc from flooding in, most likely.

It's not a public forum. It's a privately owned forum, run by ZOS. They don't have to let anyone post here. If you want to post here, you ask for an invitation (as I see you must have).

No game company is required to allow a public forum. And they're also not required to offer "free speech" since they're not a part of the US government.

Oh I didn't know this was a private game, I thought it was public. If it was public then a public forum would be nice, one where an invite to was not needed

You seem to be consistently confusing the forum for the game its self in this thread. The forums are publicly viewable, but require additional steps to participate in. I'm not sure why that disagrees with you. If you want a completely open ESO forum that anyone can join at any moment without any additional requirements, then I would suggest the ESO subreddit.

The game itself should have a easily accessible forum is all i am saying. having to wait for a invite several days has made me forget why I wanted to post here, please excuse me I didn't know this was a private server. How does one get to the official ESO server?

Usually, when you sign up for ESO, you should get an email with an activation code for the forums which will allow you to immediately sign up (it might take a few days, but should be very soon after purchase and registration). Afaik, you only need to request one if the original one expires (that's what I had to do, anyway).

It's to keep non-players out. Makes sense, content should be created by players who actually have played the game.

It's to keep people who don't own the game from posting here otherwise we would have people posting ads for things or promoting things that have nothing to do with this game. Also lots of trolls from other games.

I never got a code for forums either. After a while I asked in game and they said to request one with a support ticket or something. It's weird.

This has to stop someday. What is next if you own private company you can bully and take rights as you please...

What rights are being taken away? The right to free speech doesn't guarantee a platform to speak from. You are free to say whatever you wish about ZoS and Elder Scrolls Online standing on a soap box on a corner somewhere. Private citizens and private companies do get to chose what can and can not be said on their private forums.

I have seen this used elsewhere. It is exactly as comments above had pointed out. Requiring an inquiry with support disuades most trolls and stops most bots ouutright.

No rights are being violated. This is private forum owned and operated by a private company. It's akin to complaining that a retailer requires custoemrs to wear a mask in order to shop in their store.

Your ability to be here is a privalege, not a right.
