Maintenance for the week of July 14:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – July 14

If I block someone I should not be able to hear or read their chat anymore.

It seems that doesn't apply if the're in my guild chat. Seems like something that should be fixed.

Are you talking about the ignore feature, because I thought that ignored them everywhere? If it doesn't, it should.

I think context is needed here.

First, if this is that VOIP consoles have then yes, a player should be able to mute them. However, with text chat, we should still be able to see their messages, just block them from PMing us.

While I have not had issues with needing to put someone on ignore as I tend to not reply to silly messages in-game I can see a major issue with not being able to see what they type.

In other words, putting someone on your ignore list should not create a cart Blanche for them to say whatever they want about you without any issues. If you could not see what they were saying you could not report them. So if you want to ignore them then do so. It just takes a measure of self-control.

Do PC players have an ignore list? Console players have block. It might work for zone chat, but definitely doesn't work for Guild chat.

PC players can ignore people, and once we do, we don't see their posts in zone chat or whispers.

I haven't had occasion to ignore a guildie, so I can't speak to the case of trying to ignore someone in Guild chat.

Historically ignoring someone on PC will keep you from seeing them in guild chat. I've done this occasionally in my trade guild with people who ask for so many price checks that I get annoyed. I can't tell you if it still works like that, or if something is broken.

If you share a guild with the ignored player, you will still see their chat in guild chat, but not in zone chat or tells. You can create a tab that does not have chat on for that particular guild.

NOPE. Ignore works in guild chat as well. Unless something has been changed that I'm not aware of because I've ignored guild officers before on NA and got in trouble because they couldn't even send me the new blast emails or talk to me to get me to turn it off. Another officer had to get me to unignore them.

If I'm being honest, if I found a guild member had blocked a member of guild leadership, that would probably be an immediate kick.

Now, I'm sympathetic if the officer is being an idiot, or constantly spamming your inbox, but if that's the case, better to take the issue to leadership, rather than just leave an officer in place that's causing issues, and if that fails, leave before they kick you.

To my knowledge, if you get grouped with someone you have blocked (via someone else inviting them ofc) you still see their chat and they can see yours. Found this out the hard way when my old guild insisted on inviting my stalker (in game and they shifted to irl) to guild events I was part of and ZOS wouldn't terminate their accounts.

Worked for me last week. Had a guy happily chatting in guild while drunk and I was a bit spammy so I ignored him because it was taking a bit too much screen space. (took him off later)

What's up with judging people's guilds?

Different people like different things, and just because a particular guild's methods don't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for others.

My PVP guild was like that. I love ball group style raiding, which meant running specific sets and practicing with guildies. My SO, who is a much more casual PVPer, can't stand that style and so didn't join the guild after running with us during Midyear Mayhem. It wasn't a big deal.

Just find a guild that works for you, and leave those of us who enjoy the guilds that don't work for you to our own fun.

    [Quoted post was removed]

You're missing the point, I don't care about someone ignoring the reminders about guild events like, "hey, we've got an auction this Friday."

We've got close to 500 people. I care when two of them start fighting in chat (because, yeah, it's a lot of people, and not all personalities will work together), but if one of them doesn't respond to being told to cut it out because they ignored one (or more) of the officers, that's a when the boot comes out. It's not like this happens often. I can only think of maybe a half dozen serious incidents in the past five years. It's rare, but, it does happen.

If someone's ignoring guild leaders in a large guild? That's not a small informal group. That's not analogous to your little league team. And that becomes a situation where disputes between guild members do need to be dealt with. They're not friends. They're not acquaintances. Very significantly, they're not children.

More than that, if you're in a guild and you feel the need to mute an officer, even if it's just because they're constantly sending spammy reminders about various guild events, that is a sign you should get out, and that the guild isn't a good fit for you. Maybe try to talk to leadership about it first, but if they're inflexible and don't offer a convincing counter argument, there's no reason to stick around. Either way, if it comes to that point, it means that something is seriously broken between you and how that guild is run, and there may be no fixing it. So, yeah, leave, for you own mental health.

I'm more worried about the guy viciously laying into another guildie in chat, and also not responding to one of our officers because he blocked them in a fit of pique a month ago.

And, yes, that has happened. Over the years, we've had a few guild members go over the rainbow during arguments over utterly idiotic things. I have, literally, seen someone threaten to kill a fellow guild member over an argument about how you should tank the axes in vAA. (Somewhat obviously, neither one of those individuals is still with the guild.)

But, yeah, if the idea that guild officers have the sheer gall to ask you to treat your fellow guild members as human beings is too authoritarian, then we are absolutely a bad fit for you.

Block list is not working on PS4. I can see blocked players in zone text chat in Cyrodiil as of the update on Tuesday.

We do not have an ignore list. ESO uses PSN to allow us to block only 20 players.

That would be a nightmare when it comes to forming groups. The game would need to check every group members ignore list compare them to every other group members ignore list then invite only players that are not on any of the ignore lists. It would also have to check to be sure members are not on the list of people about to join.

I had to stop and think about this for second. No, because on counsel, their name shows up with a voice icon, and theirs was the only one up, so it could not have been anyone else.

P.S. I also lost access to my inventory again after searching for an item in my crafting bag. Litterally this was suppose to be fixed because 2 months ago it happened, and they still didn't upon the latest update. 👏
