[SOLVED] My favorite mouse has buttons that can only be bound using X-Mouse. Is it safe?

I have a mouse that i simply love, it's perfectly responsive, has a ton of buttons, but most of those buttons can only be bound using a generic mouse software, like X-Mouse, because it does not have it's own app and ESO does not recognize them.

Now, the burning question: is a software like X-Mouse going to get me banned? I don't intend using any cr4p like macros and whatnots.

@ZOS_GinaBruno i am sorry for mentioning you in the topic, but i think such a question needs an official answer, i would really hate to see my time and money invested in the game gone due to something like this :)

Thank you in advance for your awesome help!

It's no different than Corsair, Logitech, or Razer's mouse app, so I don't see how you would get banned by using it.

is X-Mouse the native controller software for the mouse, Operating system native software or third party?

My quick google showed several download links but all looked like third party.

Unfortunately third party, as the mouse has no software of it's own :(

Binding your mouse buttons won't get you banned.

I have a Corsair mouse and keyboard that comes with Icue software which does the same thing and also lets you create macros which sits unused. I only use it to control the lighting on my mouse and keyboard.

If ZoS banned everyone who uses the software for their hardware they would probably ban half the player base. Bad for business and completely unnecessary.

Using mouse software to bind a keyboard keystroke to a mouse button is not an issue. For example, if you have a MOBA or MMO mouse that you want to bind thumb button 6 to weapon swap. However, ESO does natively recognize M3, M4, and M5 mouse commands with the correct mouse drivers installed.

With that said, the issue becomes the use of third party software to create automated processes with macros and scripts executing to bypass the imposed limitations of the add-on API.

I have never needed to use third-party software to bind gaming actions to any of those mice. I keybind directly to the mouse from the settings in-game.

However, you are correct that it would not lead to a ban. It should only be if the software is used to create and use macros.
