Went looking for some gear for Midyear Myhem today. Wanted to reuse an old build I ran on a toon that I deleted for no good reason 6 months ago.... apparently I forgot to take off all their gear before I did so. So I lost 7 gold body pieces, 3 gold jewelry and gold weapons.

And the worst part? I deleted them before the sticker book was a thing so I don't even have the monster set anymore 🙄

Anyways, what are some stupid things y'all have done?.... and did it take you 6 months to realize your mistake?

The list is long, but accidentally crafting CP150 gear, then golding it, then only realizing the mistake when I tried to put CP160 enchants on it ranks up there.

    Ooooooft. That hurts.

Soon as the servers came back up yesterday I went farming in shadowfen for the harpooner lead, thinking I'd get in before the masses descended on the zone. Dutifully sat at a node for 3 hours and got the lead.

Went to scry it... oh flip, the excavation is actually in Blackwood.
    I dont have blackwood.

    I got got.

I stupidly belived Companions would be fun and that the proc and CP changes wouldn't bother my Casual PVE going self. Took me a couple of hours to figure it out though

I don't have Blackwood yet either Indigo. Going away for a week so I decided to hold off until I get back.

I've made the CP150 mistake many times. And so many mistakes with master writs before they stupid proofed them.

Oh Companions are fun :) There just not much practical use.

I started out last year in April and quickly realized there was gold to be made from purple motifs and furnishing recipes, but I learned every green one I could find. I wanted to make a lot of gold to buy a house as soon as I could, because that aspect of the game really appealed to me.

I was recently browsing through recipes I know on that toon and realized one of them was the wax dragonfruit... which sells for about 250-300k. I definitely could have used that gold when I was starting out!

Schadenfreude still is fun. Somehow. :D
I can't remember anything special, but I must have wasted quite some millions on stuff I don't really need anymore.
    Golden gear like TBS, triunes,...
And a lot of time excogitating builds that fell victim to some update, patch or my sheer impetuousness during creation. :p

    Gosh, I love this game!

The gear I crafted was 160 but I golded it out and realized I forgot to give it a trait. So I deconned and started over. Did the same thing again. Didn't get the 2nd set completely to gold when I realized but a few pieces were all done.

Also sold left a couple of zeros off of a motif I put in the trader. I listed at 2,800 instead of 280,000. They were going for over 300,000 so it sold really quick.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I just came back to the game a few weeks ago. Started a brand new character in a new faction, doing the main questlines - and enjoying it.

I decided to spend money.. Signed back up to ESO+, found out about mythic items and thought 'I need those' so bought Greymoor.

Then I saw pre-order offers for Blackwood - and thought - go-on then.. bought that.

Blackwood releases and I think.. 'I'll start Greymoor now - level up my scrying, wait for the Blackwood bugs and rush to die down'.. Then I see this in the bottom of the patch notes:
Additionally, Greymoor has moved to the Crown Store for purchase or is available with an ESO Plus membership.

Hm.. Did I just waste my money on Greymoor?
    Minalan owes me a beer.

I bought a dubious recipe for 50k about half way through the first jester's festival. Got a duplicate on one of the last days and hung on to it for a bit. I hadn't really tried to sell much through traders at that point, so I didn't check or ask around what they were going for when I decided to sell it sometime later and I listed it for the same amount I bought it for. It sold really fast. Found out why a few days later... they were selling for around 500k 🤦🏼‍♀️

A not so known fact is that there are NPCs in game that can bite you, these NPCs arent always there though since they have special spawn times.

There used to be piles of players waiting for the NPCs to spawn when the game first came out, some trying to be bitten others trying to kill the NPCs (most likely cuz they wanted to sell their bites to players), these NPCs do still exist in the game.

after 1 week it was down to 100k, after 1 more it was down to 35k something.

Never bought a chestpiece again shortly after its release. i have learned my lesson

Paid a gross amount of gold for a high- demand weapon, in the exact right trait, without realizing it was CP30. This was before the sticker book. It hurt.

Mine are mostly crafting related. Like accidentally using a motif on the wrong character, either because I forgot to move it or because I was trying to link it in chat and clicked the wrong thing.

Also I do master writs in batches and it seems like every time there's at least one where I forget I'm doing a purple writ and not a gold one and upgrade the item too many times. If I'm lucky it's something I can sell to get some of the money back, if not I just have to salvage it and start over.
When I first started I didn’t know about recharging weapons so I used to get rid of them lol

I've done things like that in other games. When I first started Valheim I had 3 or 4 broken stone axes in my inventory (plus a working one) when I discovered the 'repair' button. Or doing it the other way, not realising items in some games vanish when they break and suddenly finding myself in the middle of nowhere with no useful weapons!

Didn't take me 6 months, but it did take me until I had completely finished finally cleaning my inventory on E I G H T E E N characters that I had been putting off forever to realize that I was on the flipping TEST SERVER the whole time. Spent close to two hours obliviously going through the tedious motions for absolutely no reason. What an idiot! :D

Part of me instantly found it funny, but another part was pretty thoroughly unamused.

Crafting CP150 gear, golding out and trying to enchant with CP160 glyphs...
Looking for specific jewelry trait to research, paying 50k gold for a ring just to realize I needed necklace...
    Learning motif on non-crafter character...
Buying set jewelry so cheap (for a set that's actually expensive) I hyped only to realize it was level 40 or something after I wondered why my stats are lower...

I was in the bank and wanted to sell 4 Dreugh Wax,so I took them out of my crafting bag and put them in the guild trader.
Next day I realized I did accidently put 40 instead of 4 on sale ofc for the price of 4 :D

I crafted billions of writs to buy dozens of attunable stations for our guild house.

And then decided I would help out our GM, who owns the guild house...by attuning the stations for her 😂😭

Luckily I caught it after 2 sets and a rich friend took pity on me and gave me the gold to buy new stations.

I don't even know what I was thinking lol. On autopilot I guess 🤷

My main is a master crafter and I lie to myself saying that one day she'll know all the motifs. Every now and again I make lists of the motifs I'm missing and go searching for them in guild stores. I lost count how many times I've bought a motif she already knew because it was a motif with only one or a couple of listings available and I was afraid someone would buy it before I did.

I played almost a year without Plus, and didn't try the free weekends because I was worried there would be some type of "gotcha" with the trial. After reading a little bit more about it, I tried Plus on one of the free weekends and spent most of my time moving stuff out of the crafting bag in fear that the trial would expire and my stuff would be locked out of my reach. It was very disappointing finding that all my crafting stuff had moved back into the crafting bag a few minutes after I'd moved it out.

I got ESO plus less than a week after trying it out and it wasn't until then that I found out that the stuff in your crafting bag doesn't get locked. It took me a much longer time to figure out that you can set the game to not place crafting mats automatically in the crafting bag.
