Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

It's only been a week and I'm sick of seeing companions everywhere

The same two faces appear everywhere, sitting right next to each other. This is just immersion-breaking, and reduces my motivation to use companions... I don't think this is the proper way to do them, they could have replaced them with generic models, but I guess people should be able to flaunt the new character they paid real money to get... :|

*shrug* I don't really notice. I'm not messing with them at all - I've never had any use for that sort of thing. But I rarely look at other characters in any case. My head is in whatever I'm doing....

Not only that, but there's no option to put helmets on them either. These clones everywhere are deliberate game design.

In a year or two maybe we'll have a greater variety, for now they gotta get all the kinks before rolling out more.

Are you looking for them? I have seen a couple of Mirri-clones out there and only checked long enough to see if they were clones or whether they had a random face. I guess they, and all the other players I run across, are the same background noise that I have been not paying attention to for a very long time.

I am sure it's a technical issue. I am sure in there meetings it was brought up to have them only visible to the player, at least in non group situations. It was doing it this way, or not at all. I am hoping they give us more customized options in the future.

I'm ok with more players running around, but I agree that we need customization options. If we could use helmets, collectable hats, and head ornaments it would make a big difference. Different hairstyles too.

Kind of makes your yearn for the days when you only had to contend with sorc and warden pets doesn't it?

Would be a lot less annoying if we could put helmets on them, huh? Then they'd have more appearance variation...

Their reason of "making them feel unique" is totally defeated when you see scores of their clones in town. They should have just let us use helmets (and hair styles) and then hide the helmet during dialogue scenes. Feels like a no brainer and they had to have known most folks would hate the inability to fully customize the companions.

As this system is basically copy and paste from Star Wars the Old Republic, just release various skins for your companion like they had.

I think this is one of those weird moments where being a PvPer in ESO is actually beneficial.

    NO! You sadist! lol

Makes me yearn for an option that I can toggle to hide ungrouped players' pets and followers!

I had not seen an issue either. The only time I notice is when I am not doing anything and actually look for them.

Eso have never been a immersive game so I dont care but would welcome more customization for the companions such as skins, hairstyles, head and body markings, adornments and hats.

Kinda surprised no-one brought this up before the update went live.... oh wait, they did and some fellow with noise-cancelling headphones, two eye patches and a bucket on their head was like... “be alright... whatever”.

it's not so easy with mirri, but if a dozen people at a wayshrine have bastion it is comical.

Big agree. The moment I heard in the twitch stream "we're adding companions" I sarcastically said "that's f****** perfect." I hate them so much. There's just as many of them as there are players in town and they all look the same. It came off to me as an attempt to make the game look more populated than it actually is

I'm only keeping mine out so much to level them. Once they are leveled I'll only bring them along for certain activities. I imagine others will do the same.

Maybe if we could add head gear and or hair style it would help? Either way I mainly ignore them but I can see the problem for.roll.players etc.

I didn’t like it at first but I don’t really mind it anymore. I just don’t pay attention to other players that much and often take other players’ companions for just another player.

It will get better as we get more companions

I still wish we could use customizations that don’t hide their face, such as body/face markings, adornments

    IMMERSION BREAKING?

You mean like people prancing around in Jester mode? Flapping combat pets in your face? Jackwads streaking through dungeons mindless of others' quests or outright inability to keep up? Weird-colored, flashy mounts -- or knuckleheads sitting in fighting places like dumb dumbs on those mounts? How about the Main Quest Line that is so out of sinc with the game as to be ridiculous? How about the way ZOS has driven players to be greedy and often toxic?

There's very little about this game that isn't immersion breaking. Back in 2014 I was really into the lore and story lines due to having played all the TES games, but no more. Now it's ONLY about getting my daily chores done.

Most annoying thing about companions is the army of people who feel obliged to post every single crappy piece of green companion equipment into guild chat as if they just dug out Tut-Ankh Amon's second tomb.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

OK. So ZOS says that they can't wear helmets due to them being their own individuals and they want them to stand out or whatever & whatnot.

    So no Helms. Got it.

    But...

Hats are a thing in this game. And they don't cover the face.

Can we at least put hats on them? That would go a long way (in addition to their costumes and such) to removing this massive clone wars matrix issue we're living in right now.

I think we all get it ZOS, you want us to see all of them now to help push sales. We also get, that in the future when there are ton more crown store companion options available, this issue will go away (a bit). But right now... ugh!

Let us put our hat collections on them! pls&thx
