In the Future: "Old Places & Villains"

If you are going to bring back an Old Enemy then do it in a New Zone -- If you are going to bring back an Old area then create a New enemy.

Good examples of this:
2014: we returned to some places we've been before but this time we faced against Molag Bal, who we've not explored much in past titles
2017: We came back to Vvardenfel but the threat was Clavicus Vile and not Dagoth Ur
2019: "Season of the Dragon" was something familiar (Dragons) wrapped in something new (Elsweyr)

However, 2020 & 2021 were both old areas with old enemies.

We've seen Vampire Lords in Skyrim before (Dawnguard) - and honestly the villain of 2020, Rada al-Saran, was more suited to a Hammerfell/Vampire themed expansion which would have been a refreshing way to tackle a Vampire year in my honest opinion - and I'm sure they could have added a Blackreach zone underneath Hammerfell

The Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline should have focused on "Void Storms" and just been about Void monsters. The "Dark Heart" literally was not brought up until Q4 Markarth....Nothing in Greymoor (the $40 - $60 chapter) was about the Dark Heart. If both Q2 & Q4 were about Void Creatures I think we would have had a more interesting & coherent year because 2020 was a hodge-podge that lacked focus.

Meanwhile "Blackwood" is Cyrodil and Dagon...again. Luckily it blends in Black Marsh to freshen things up a little.

I am NOT saying to never bring back old stuff.

What I am saying is don't bring back old stuff without adding something new to make it a fresh experience. Don't bring old areas with old enemies.

Example: when we eventually go to the Shivering Isles - don't make the threat Jyggalag. We've seen it before so the threat should be different this time around - like Peryite

So. You want to go to a realm of oblivion… and the bad guy…. ISN’T the daedric lord of the realm?

What’s the threat the lords have dominion over their realms.

It was an idea I had a while ago:
Capitalizing on Nostalgia (Sheo) while bringing something New & Unexplored (Peryite)
One of my ideas for a Peryite was to bring him in as an Antagonist in a "Shivering Isles" Chapter.

    Q2 Chapter: Shivering Isles
    Q4 Zone dlc: The Pits

Prince of Madness vs Taskmaster, Lord of Natural Order

    Madness & Pestilence.

I liked the idea but point being when we do go back to Shivering Isles to not copy the old Oblivion expansion, don't just repeat the Grey March, we've seen it before so do something NEW

I also prefer the mix-and-match approach over the repeating-last-games approach. That said, I'm certainly enjoying Blackwood so far, even if I do wish it weren't another Oblivion invasion.

To @Icy_Waffles question about "what's the threat' -- maybe we should ask Molag Bal how he felt about Meridia shoving the Hollow City down his Coldharbour. ;P

U know there not going to do that because if they do then majority of players be upset that it not like the old expansion.

I think the majority of people would be upset/irritated/disappointed if the Shivering Isles chapter was just a copy of the old Oblivion expansion

Some of you need to go outside 😂.

    I kid. Sorta.

In regards to Meridia bringing hollow city co coldharbour…. Is helping her didn’t exactly bode well for Tamriel. Could have been costly had we not been able to stop her. And honestly Molag Bol not sending her packing in his realm was just bad writing so our character could be the hero. 🤭

And round and round we go?

I’m all for something new and not nostalgic, but the princes…. Maybe that’s the issue I’m seeing. I know they tread carefully with making an alliance one of the bad guys- wouldn’t exactly make sense but still. There has to be other real threats that isn’t an oversized bat or wolf or an ugly princess. 😂
