Maybe some minor things from collections like adornments, cosmetics, but nothing major like skins, faces, personalities etc. Companions are not player characters.

If we are suppose to form a romantic relationship between our character and companion, so it would be more realistic for them to match our tastes. Like IRL partners consider each other opinion on their appearance, so even face/body tweaks should be a thing.

Helmets, a hairstyle change, make up and body marks should all be fine. I agree we probably shouldn’t be able to alter their features…. but all those other things are changeable….

Firstly they're a story characters kind of so fixed appearance is mandatory in a sense. But overall I'm not in favour of it just simply because don't want devs to waste their time on those features anyway and can't care less for it, shrug.

I absolutely love being able to build and customize characters, so giving us all the more capability to do so is all the better for me.

I get why they don't want us having complete control over these things for companions but it would be nice to have more options and control over the characters we're spending so much time for.

Only being allowed to give them helmets/hats. It makes no sense they can't protect their heads.

As for the rest with skins and stuff, no, they are unique characters who's bodies should be left as they are.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

It's funny to me when people say that putting helmets on our companions will stop you from seeing the same characters everywhere--that only works if most people puts a helmet on their Bastians and Mirris, and I doubt I'd be doing that.

That said, I recognize that these characters are supposed to be specific people, but I'd like to raise another point: unlocking more options for how I dress up these characters would be fun.

There are 2 elements to this:

1.Variance of appearance and avoiding 10 identical Bastians gathered round a quest giver. Swtor did this welll by having variant appearances for companions, companion x was always companion x, but you got to chose a pack that reflected minor changes in their hair and face. This would not take away from the personality of the companion, nor would equipping a helm.

    2. Personal Preference - a companion in game is a very personal choice, unless you release a mass of them at once you are never going to please all players in matters of aesthetics or player character background. So ZOS either needs to add a lot of companions quickly, which still won't meet everyone's tastes, or allow full customisation.

I played through both companions levelling and Story on the PTS. Neither companion appealed to me and this was a large reason for my choice not to buy this chapter.

If I could have equipped a zombie personality and skeleton Polymorph on Bastian and had a perma pet on my Necro I might have gone a different way.

Like it or not players get more invested in companions if they are unique and complement the character they accompany. Honestly I was more likely to Blade of Woe Bastian than adventure with him.

I completely agree with you. I want so much to use Blade of Woe on Bastian! His voice is the most irritating part, with his lines when we enter a city coming second. Mirri is a bit better, in my opinion, but neither of them is attractive enough to make me care about their superficial stories, or what they look like. (If only I could have Elam Drals as my companion!)

Although, the whole situation is not salvageable for me, I support those who like their companions and want to customize them. The best, of course, would be to have more companions to choose from, but I don't see it coming any time soon.
