QOL issue here. I've found that if I want to access the bank/merchant in a dungeon when running companions, it's a pain to have the companion despawn and then need to re-summon the companion. Why was it that ZOS implemented it this way?
Hmm, what I do is just go right to the banker or merchant and set them active without unchecking the companion and when I dismiss my banker or merchant the companion respawns.
^This. The moment you dismissed the banker/merchant, the companion should come back automatically.
