Just curious.
-did you do normal or vet?
-what role did you give them?
-were they useful in that role?
-did they have many deaths?
-any unexpected problems? Like them getting stuck etc

I have done the normals in Auridon and Grahtwood, with Bastion tanking. There were no particular issues, he held aggro fairly well and did not die. I could solo these lowbie instances without a companion, but I wanted to see how he performed and I was farming for companion gear.

My problem is this: I don't care for random normals because most of the time we get fake tanks. This is often not a problem, but DLC dungeons and a few of the more difficult base-game dungeons ruin the experience. I'd want the option of running randoms with just me an the companion. This would be *mostly* okay except it's unrealistically time consuming to get companions to a state where they could conceivably function in harder instances.

Great. For now I am doing normal, cause first I need to level those badboys ;)

I've already completed Ruins of Mazzatun solo, now I will be trying to pass through Blackheart Haven, Crypt of Hearts II and Fungal Grotto II. I know you can do BH & FG2 solo, but I am not that good at this moment ^^

Can you solo everything in Craglorn overland with companions?

Craglorn is the only zone where I still havent completed any of its activities (world bosses etc) because too lazy to find a group or ask help.

I soloed all the bosses in Craglorn overland without companions so that should be doable. The encounters where I have to keep an npc alive I have yet to do solo though. Been a while, maybe I should try them again.

I tried before, but my build fail me. I wonder if companion make it possible for sub optimal build to solo everything in Craglorn overland.

I took Mirri into a couple of easy normal 4 man dungeons. She still had her beginner armor & bow equipped and did okay with no deaths. I had to throw a few necro heals at her but she did a lot better than I expected, considering she was still a noob.

Went to Black Drake Villa normal

Bastion healer did alright until the final boss where he took dirt naps but the boss is AoE city anyway so expected. Basically, they'll do alright as long it isn't a AoE heavy fight or mechanics.

I run with Bastian, who is lvl ~10 healer, with some green gear pieces and healing spells on his panel.
I don't need him to solo normals and took him to grind some companion gear (which drops in normals and tradable).
In base game normals he did great, he avoided aoe and some mechanics, in DLC dungeons he didn't. During difficult DLC boss fights, he was on the floor most of the time.
Is he useful as a healer? Well, he works really hard, always casts his tiny little heals, I guess he could do much better with better gear. Which I don't have for him. I can only imagine how much purple gear pieces with healing traits gonna cost in the foreseeable future. The drop rate is abysmal, my Master Crafter can't craft it or upgrade it. Make it make sense.

Speaking of un-expected problems, companion-healer sometimes picks a fight with some mobs 20 meters away, instead of running next to me and healing. In my prev MMO, we also had "companions" and could manage their behavior, for example, set him to "protect me", "protect yourself" or "back off". So in ESO I can choose the pants my companion is wearing, but can't give even the most basic commands during the fight.

running around with mirri through dungeons i can make solo, kind of feels to run around with newbie that can drop some damage but i have to keep attention for. around lvl10 mostly with white gear.
i gave her a healing staff, shooting star(?) from mages skill line and with my magcro because of spirit guardian to keep her alive without specially casting heals for her.

I have taken Bastian (as a fellow DPS) into Arx twice... he died at the last boss both times but that's it.

I also took him to Spindleclutch and he didn't die at all.

Both of these dungeons were normal.

Today I took him to Skyreach and he only died once.

Took Bastion into Spindleclutch Normal, myself a lvl 15 Redguard Warden Tank no CP spent, Bastion level 4, with a healing staff.

Had a few close calls and died once, but overall surprised on how well it all went with just 3 Companion abilities and a Lowbie Warden and his bear.

Levelling fresh with Bastion so looking forward to the Wayrest Sewers which will be our next stop once we hit Stormhaven.

Tried the companions on the PTR a while ago and they were useless, they are much better now on live.
