Companion armour weight

Each of the armour types offers a passive and active skill.

Light increases healing done by 1% per piece, and reduces cost of break free. Active skill resets skill cooldown.
Medium increases damage done by 1% per piece, and reduces cost of roll dodge. Active skill makes the companion vanish and heal.
Heavy icreases healing received by 1% per piece, and increases amount of damage blocked. Active skill makes the companion invulnerable for 5 seconds.

Aside from those benefits is there any other mechanic to companion armour (except the traits and quality)?
Cooldowns on my companion's skills are exactly the same when wearing a full set of light and full set of heavy (tested on white gear without traits).

It seems to me like it might be better to equip my healer with full heavy for survivability and compensate with traits for the healing loss.
Am I missing something?

It comes down to min/max. You could wear heavy on your healer and compensate with traits or wear light and use the traits and get even stronger heals. The armor active ability may also play a huge role into the build.

Do you need 7% healing? 7% damage. I think companion tanking is weak so I wouldn't recommend heavy unless you want them in melee range and that's probably isn't they way to go.

i didn't read enough in patch notes, there is pieces of armors with different traits obtained overland with different traits.
i'm more curious about armor skill lines leveling as i'm wearing on miri 1 heavy and 1 medium + light but skill lines are stuck on 0 for medium and heavy...

Console player here, if your companion dies, do they just pop back up?

In combat you can revive them with a sould gem like you would another player. After combat they get up on their own.

Their armor skill lines only level once you have 5 pieces of one of the lines equipped on them, meaning as stupid as it is you can only do one at a time.

Light armor also boosts damage by 0.5% per piece.
    Edit: Oops, old info.

Yeah, I made this mistake in the beginning. I thought it was like player armor leveling... that it would level regardless of how many pieces you were wearing. Faster leveling with more pieces, slower with fewer. After noticing my Medium armor was advancing but my Light was not... I then read the description and noticed that I had to have FIVE pieces of a specific armor type in order for it to level. VERY stupid idea and confusing because I'm sure a lot of people are making that exact same mistaking in assuming it would be like leveling player armor.
