He currently has a physical copy of Tamriel Unlimited Gold Edition, with Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Wrothgar and Imperial City included. He is looking at preordering the Blackwood Collection Bundle, with all the chapters, as a Digital copy from the PSN Store. I couldnt find an upgrade to that option. So I have a few questions.
If he switches from the physical copy to the digital copy will he have to redownload the game? I know another friend of mine switched to digital from physical because her disc reader stopped working and ended up having to redownload everything. I assume it would be a similar case.
If he switches to the digital version, since that would now be the version installed and not the physical Tamriel Unlimited Gold Edition, would he loose access to the dlc's associated with that version or are they bound to his account from having them currently unlocked on it?

Yes. You will redownload the game, a fully digital version of the game that doesn’t have to check for a disc in the console.
All of the DLCs are tied to the account and not the disc though. It’s honestly not a bad time to switch as you’ll basically be doing a full reinstall for the Blackwood update on Tuesday.
