I think they said the new hardware is coming with BlackWood or is it just me and i was dreaming that. Just a simple question from loyal player, fan and costumer.
I don't remember if they specifically mentioned it in connection with Blackwood, or just as something that would be happening (hopefully this year) as part of being purchased by Microsoft.
They also said that it won't affect the performance.
Yeah, that's right-- or rather, that it wasn't expected to. In other words-- maybe it will, and maybe it won't, but don't get your hopes up. Better to make it clear up front that there might not be any noticeable improvement in performance, than to give everyone expectations that don't get met.
May be we are already on this new servers. I'm waiting for tomorrow's Bethesda twich. Not much difference on my better pc, but on my old i see some differences...
*fast chapter's launch
*here and there little bit better performance
*better npc loading on pc eu (on my old laptop for daily crafting)
I think Gina said in a live stream that the new hardware would come in 2021. She made no connection with Blackwood. I really just want the ad hoc emergency maintenance periods to stop.
Open up an AWS account and you'll see that it's easy to modify hardware via the GUI.
Part of my works infrastructure is on premises and other parts function on AWS. If we find our QA environment needs more cores or ram, we basically just change the settings to a higher tier. Maybe we just need to add another node to our cluster. We pretty much hit a few buttons to create it and then away we go with terraform. Now we test again and then we know if we need to modify prod. It's not like old school Rackspace where you actually need to order a new rack mount system and wait for them to do it. Sadly, my company is too afraid to put everything into AWS so we're half in/half out.
