What´s the difference between this type of ambient occlusion and HBAO or SSAO? There is also indirect occlusion. Can somebody tell me which one is the best one?
Clarity, gradients and a lighter or darker reflection. I use HBAO... and everything else maxed out but I have a Monster PC I don't recommend it for midrange systems as it can kill frame rates.
SSGI is the best one of the four and does look the best as well, but LSAO look almost as good and nets me an extra 5 FPS.
HBAO is suppose to be better than SSAO but in ESO I find the HBAO implementation to be too light on effect, It doesn't add enough shadowing under objects to really be noticeable but it costs more than SSAO which leads me to use SSAO when I have the choice.
So for me, appearance wise is: SSGI>LSAO>SSAO>HBAO
performance wise in cost is: SSGI>LASO>HBAO>SSAO
On the whole SSGI costs me around 10 FPS, LSAO 5 FPS, HBAO 3 FPS and SSAO 1-2 FPS.
This is on a R5 5600X, GTX 1060 6GB. If you have a lower end system stick with SSAO, it's really good for the cost and probably the best value overall.
