Arx Corinium Chests

Has the number of chests in Arx Corinium been reduced since update?

My husband and I ran it a couple of times alone and could only find one. We q’d with other people and found 2.

Couldn’t find anything in patch notes.

I know we have always been lucky with that dungeon with how many chests there were.

Can confirm, just did a quick solo vet run and got only one chest. It would have made sense to bring it down from four to two so it's more in line with other dungeons, but only one worries me. I'm going to check other dungeons now and will report back later.

RIP Arx farmers, and possibly everyone solo farming ANY dungeon gear...

People farming medusa staff but never open chests... But i got 2x in simple chests.

Lesson: simple chests can drop high end weapons in all zones...

It'd be a shame if they reduced it. If anything, they should make all dungeons have 4 chests.

Okay, I just solo ran a different named dungeon (Blessed Crucible) on normal and got the expected 2 chests. I am less worried and more curious about the change to Arx now. I'm guessing they did it because everyone is farming there, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for it to have fewer chest spawns than other dungeons of the same type or for the number of chests to be dependent on the number of people in the group.

I did Arx ad-nauseam, enough to almost complete the sticker book for it - two weapons left - before the patch and most of my runs had two chests.

Three was an outlier so was one and four was almost unheard of. So much so that I'm not sure if I remember four-chest runs or I have just made up that memory altogether.

I do know where the chests spawn, I do have the antiquities passive and I was looking for the chests each run so although not impossible for me to miss a chest - human fallibility and all that - it is unlikely that I missed chests consistently.

EDIT: My Medusa inferno staff dropped from trash mobs. So did an Undaunted Infiltrator ice staff. The odds of getting set drops from trash are poor, but so are the odds from getting weapons anyway given how few potential sources are available per run so not sure how wise it is to play the skip skip game in the long run when clearing trash mobs on normal takes seconds.

Maybe the grind for Medusa and Undaunted staffs was to easy with 4 chests each run?

But after 100+ runs and 300+ (i lost counts) chests the Undaunted Infiltrator lighting staff still didnt drop.

@DarcyMardin and I duoed nWGT with 2 antiquarians, so I'm hopeful we didn't miss a chest.

We found 2, which seems to be the usual number.

Thank you for checking WGT too. I'm hoping to start running through all the soloable dungeons and counting chests (and HSs in the case of Selene's) over the coming days, and it's useful to hear if people in groups (even premade vs dungeon finder) get different results.

My current guess is that prior to Blackwood, some people had a bug that cause them to get fewer chests than they should have, causing ApoAlaia to usually get 2/run when the rest of us got 4. The duplicate thread, which someone unwittingly replied to after this one was active seems to indicate that some people are still getting 4, so it would seem that the bug is now just more prevalent than before. I'm not sure though, and it's still very likely that ZoS lowered the total number of chests/instance from 4 to 2 in Arx.

@ZOS_ConnorG or other forum mod, it wouldn't be possible to merge threads, would it?

@ZOS_GinaBruno Can you give us any insight on whether these changes to dungeon chest spawn rates are intentional or a bug?

I feel like the ugly duckling now.

Still, I am done with Arx, the two missing weapons can do one so is of no consequence.

PS: One of the two missing weapons is the Undaunted Infiltrator lightning staff, because of course it is. I had an inkling it was but just logged in on my account to confirm.

I have spent lots of time. Soloing Arx in the past and I know where the chests are. Just ran it while ago and only found 2. Sad day.

Ouch. I think there can be up to 14 if all the locations pop. I've run it and hit 6-7 in one run. But usually its 4

I can count at least 27 possible spawn locations off the top of my head really quickly. On console it’s a guaranteed 4 chests every run.

Yup, in new CP system simple and intermediate chests seems to be better than adv & master when it comes to obtaining new weapons. Sure, quality could be worse, but that's no problem, right?

And during numerous grinds in AC i can only say that amount of chests was always changing, from one to 5-6. Its just matter of luck. Or RNG.

It's not that it's "bad rng." What if... It's the game's algorithms trying to encourage you to finally try out that 5pc Lamia build? And we all just sleeping on it?

Maybe not 5 but 4 for sure. In Darkshade Caverns, in Icereach too, I think. One time even in Stone Garden ^^. Usually you have 1 or 2 but as I mentioned, I did AC a lot. Once even had two advanced chests at the beginning of dung ^^

Arx is the only dungeon I have extensively farmed solo 'with intent' (so to speak).

All the rest I either do it on a 'what should I do now' basis to see if I can get something ticked off my stickerbook and/or get a lead (and I really don't keep track of that in any reliable way) or I do it as part of a group, often pugs, which means skip skip skip run run go go go! so no idea.

Set collections are account wide. If you’re looking for the staff, go in there with your tank and pug it. When I tanked Imperial city prison, snb leeching never dropped until I went in there with my healer. If it doesn’t drop on your healer or dps, it will drop on your tank.

I have almost every sticker book filled, aside from certain arenas and trials which I’m not interested in. The trick is to never farm the collection with 1 toon. Go in there with your tank, your healer and your dps toons. Rotate them. If you insist that Inferno Medusa will drop on your 18 magsorc toons, I don’t know what to tell ya. Sheogorath is the RnG mad god, and he’s called mad god for a reason lol.

I don't think that drops are in anyway class or skills related.

Once I thought, when three times in a row I got Maelstrom 2h (each time different) while I was playing 2h SDK. But then everything turn back to reality and still I am missing Maelstrom Bow & normal inferno staff, even I had complete MA with almost every possible permutation of class & profiles.

What's even more funny, completing Vet Arena with my Stamplar gave me... Perfected Inferno Staff ^^

I've been running Arx Corinium several times a week until lately. I've noticed that only one chest would spawn in the dungeon and it was usually junk. The one time I had four chests they all contained the same loot. What are the odds?? My last run had ZERO chests in it...I looked everywhere.

Yesterday, I went in to solo normal Cradle of Shadows...two chests...lol. Darkshades 1 chest this week..sometimes none. WTH?!!!

Ok, small update - I have run 3 normal solo runs through AC and it seem you were right. In every run I had only 2 chests. Sometimes at the beginning, sometimes at the same end, but always two.

However, in most cases chest were intermediate, so it seems they improve their quality while reducing quantity. And drops were quite good. Even with weapon.
