Removed from Server due to Excessive Messaging, but I have not been messaging much!

I got dropped from the server and the error message said "You have been dropped from the server because you hit the message rate limit. Please avoid excessive messaging (i.e. spamming)"

I have a really low message rate. I barely talk in zone. I do talk in group, but pretty much only to my wife. I occasionally ask to join a dolmen group, which I did once today. I used the hello emote once today and the thank you emote once today. Can't think of more than 10 messages today. What is going on here?

The servers are down for pc/mac and I am on xbox, so that doesn't make sense, but thanks for responding. Plus, my wife was not kicked and she has been chatting in guild chat today a bit, maybe 20 messages.

The messages are not what you think. All the data that goes back and forth to the server are considered messages too. In fact, it is the game related messaging that can be 10 times or 100 times more frequent than any texts you send.

So, what happens, is if you get Lag, then the game will try to resend packets that were perceived to not be received. These all queue up on your side, then bam, a bunch get sent to the server. That is why you get this message issue. It can happen in Cyrodiil more often than PvE zones.

So, it is nothing you did, just something that happens from time to time.

Now, there are some Addons that can be a bit more chatty than what ZOS likes, but most of those have been weeded out or changed by the Author or ZOS shut down those APIs.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Too bad it can't eliminate the main offenders of spam in zone chat. I could name a few, but probably everyone already is very familiar with their names.

Thank you so much for replying, I appreciate it.

So when I click on the xbox link in item #3 it says "make space by uninstalling items you're not using"

This is the only game on the console that I play and only I play on this console. It says I have used 39% of the storage with 476.7 GB free. It doesn't seem like this answers my question. Am I missing what this page is talking about?

I don't see any specific instructions on how to "Clear your console's save data to clear any faulty data", I was expecting instructions that would have a step of procedures.

    Thanks again.

If you do not have anything else loaded, you can skip past step#3. You can follow the steps below for clearing the console loca save data.
    1. From the Xbox Home Menu, navigate to My games & apps.
    2. Go to Games.
    3. Highlight The Elder Scrolls Online tile and press the [Menu] button of the controller.
    4. Select Manage Game. Highlight and select Save Data for the desired user.
    5. Select Delete.
