Mount speed

I've looked for an answer to this but couldn't find anything. If you max out the speed of your mount do you always have to go that speed or is there a way to throttle it back. There are a lot of times when I'd be looking for crafting items that I can't imagine going at max out speed.

There’s a “walk” toggle button you can use. Search the control keybinds. It’s pretty slow.
Otherwise, there’s running, and then there’s sprinting. You only sprint when you hold down the keybind for it. (Default is Shift on PC.)
