BG matchmaking - Let Characters have a BG Skill Score, and use that to form matches.

Is there even a system behind which players get thrown together in a battleground?
It seems so unruly. I am a total PvP noob. I group with three others who are pretty much the same, or even "noober." I find myself in a BG with one team that has 20 zillion kills and 2 teams that have zero.

Can ESO devs take a queue from other pvp games, simple ones like Splatoon and PuyoPuyo Tetris, for example? They do a much better job of pairing players with other players of similar skill.

At the very least, an eso character should have a BG Skill Score - a simple way would just be to keep an average of your points scored in the battlegrounds you have participated in. When you queue solo for bg, the queue matches you with players who have a similar score. When you queue with more than one player in a group, the matchmaker averages the score in your group.

Since 9-12 people can sometimes take too long, let battlegrounds be from 3-12 people as long as teams have even numbers.

Also why not have a duel queue, and make use of the same skill score for matchmaking?

There are 2 BG group queue's. One BG queue is for premade groups, the other for solo players. A solo player can queue for both, but I would not recommend it unless you like to RP as a punching bag. If you are solo, queue for the solo BG.

There is a hidden MMR for BG.

I know you're exaggerating but in solo queue I find the match ups to be pretty fair. Once in a while you do get lob sided teams but it isn't as common as you think.

Wrong, solo que doesn’t mean you’re playing against solo players. Sometimes you will be matched against premades if you have high MMR, or if one team has a disconnect and needs auto fill.

Same thing with premades. If your little group has been steam rolling, it’s only a matter of time before you will also get steam rolled by 1vx streamers/content creators or people that know how to ult dump lol. There’s far worse premades than 4 necros spamming blast bones, and that’s 4 Nightblade snipers lol.

Take a break from bgs once in a while. High MMR death match runs until the timer goes to 0, now that Werewolf has been nerfed. No one wants to die, lots of running, Line of sight, kiting, ect..

I’m not exactly sure how match making works tbh.

Crazy king is the best game mode imo. Capture the relic is unfair if one team has a permablock tank that has immov pots lol.

This where your problem lies. If you solo que your "MMR" gets added together. But if you group que your mmr will get multiplied. So even if you all individualy have low mmr as soon as you 4 man group chances are high that you will get qued against 4 high mmr players that solo que.

I had the exact same thing happen last week when I showed bgs to 3 friends who are new to PvP. All the bgs we had were against competent solo players.

I solo queue and I'm always against premades groups. Bgs system is garbage now, it was more funny with solo queue only

That is impossible. You can't even queue for solo queue if you're in a group. So solo queue will always put you against other solo players.

In case there is any confusion. I'm referring to the "Random Solo Battlegrounds" option when queuing, not queuing by yourself in "Random Battlegrounds"

If ESO PvP was treated seriously, it would have a real rating system like Elo or Glicko. But the game's target audience is casual thus anything competitive is not a priority.

Which only counts matches played, not won. It's neither representative of player skill nor fair.

It may seem like a premade but it's not, just good players. I've been matched with good players before and we completely dominated the map without a single word said in group chat. You'd find it much easier if everyone on your team stuck together, played the objective, never moved alone and fought 4v1.

This is all I know: when I queue solo, it's almost always a fair game with close scores. I get in within a couple of minutes.

When I queue in a pre-made, we wait for like 5-10 minutes, and then almost always get steamrolled. I don't really play BGs with my friends anymore because of that. The learning curve to get to the point where you can counter a highly coordinated and experienced group is too steep, plus there is the added fun of being repeatedly showcased in one of their highlight videos, all of which are overlaid with loud and terrible EDM.
