Why does it not work properly? For the past couple of weeks I have been unable to break free properly by pressing mouse1+2. 8 out of 10 times it does not work. Am I the only one or is there yet another problem?

I've noticed this a lot with certain CC's in cyrodiil since FoA dropped.

It's been buggy for years, but this is the worst it has felt in some time.

This happens in battlegrounds a ton.
I can't begin to tell you how many times I'm on the ground with a full stamina bar just mashing my break free buttons, and.....nothing.
I'm literally getting jabbed to death because the game doesn't work properly.

Glad to know its not just me. And no CC immunity either. Once you are ccd, its a line of them until you are dead.

Been like this for years. Sometimes it requires multiple presses for it to register. Just assumed it's due to lag like most of the annoying issues in this game are

It always seems to be only me with the issue and anyone I stun is instantly breaking free and doge rolling everything lol.

Yes, it was always buggy, but it has gotten noticeably worse lately. I am not speaking of pressing 2-3 times to break free, I am saying it won't break free for like 5-6 sec minimum an with many presses meanwhile.

It really has gotten crazy annoying.

Yep, always have this issue, especially in PVP. I just assumed it was my lag... But I will see my character doing half a break free animation like three times and then die because I'm not actually breaking free.

Break free and immunity for both hard and soft cc has gotten worse as the lag gets worse. These past couple days have been somehow worse than ever.

1. Break free
2. Roll dodge out of root
3. Snare
Good bye stamina

Don't forget it is a double and sometimes triple pump break. It's broken and I hate it so much

in the time I break free I get 2 dizzly and 1 executioner, death.

I thought it worked like that, glad to know it's a bug

(I also thought they removed cc immunity because it NEVER works)

It seems like a emerging common issue of late, and very annoying. Can you take a look at it @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_GinaBruno ? Because, it really has become a persistent issue of late. I am sure you can appreciate how frustrating it is to get jabbed to death while you are trying to break free in vain.

Also, I think roll dodge does help sometimes, but you can't keep roll dodging all the time either.

Good thing the guards keep slippery cp on cool down with bubbles and frags.

Not just PVP, I am having serious issues with it on PvE, especially dungeons and world bosses.

Yeah, a while ago you would have to break free for 3-4 times, it would consume stamina but not break free. This time, it simply doesn't even register. No stam use or anything, just nothing happens. You mash your mouse buttons, watch as your char gets ganked and dies.

Revert the server side changes ZOS. Performance wasn't great 2 years ago but it was actually better than now. Skills fail to cast and even basic cc break fails to work....

try putting swift on your rings, don't let anyone get near you

Break free has been unreliable in PVP for years. I do think it works better if bound to a single button, but certainly, its not perfect.

Yes, but it never was this bad either. At least it used to work at 2nd, 3rd attempts. Now, it almost never works.

Ever since they moved calculations from client side to server side, things like this among other things not firing when they should has been something we've just been dealing with in general, but specifically in PVP.

I don't know if they changed mouse buttons for break free? Remember having to press mouse buttons 1+2 as well. However, it is now 2+1, it's set like that in the controls menu. Using the 2+1 I rarely have a issue with it now.

I am thinking people are trying to activate it the wrong way.

It "activates" 2 or 3 times before working costing resources for each so I don't think that's it. I whispered an AD player telling them I felt that when I saw them double break free as I killed them. It's some bull crap

I understand that it was done to prevent cheats etc. But could it not have been done by other means? Like, punkbuster or similar software? Because, apparently the servers cannot handle it and won't recognize/miss the keystrokes which is quite reasonable because millions of keystrokes per second must be a massive extra load on already overloaded servers.

Ive not really noticed this, i mean the only times ive done this i actually had no stamina and didnt realise. But looks like im the minority, then again my cyro experience is pretty lag free asside from a loading screen in the wilds every blue moon so maybe i just live closer to the servers than i think. Idk.

I know that feeling. I believe there is just a pretty wide range in the quality of peoples connections to the servers and there are a few people at any given time playing with no lag while the rest of us deal with delays of anywhere from 0.5 up to 2 full seconds between what's happening on their screen and then what happens on ours.
Unfortunately it sounds like your usually on the opposite end and experience more server to client lag than most so you always feel like other people are able to react faster and break free quicker.
My own experience varies. Sometimes I feel like you do and everyone is a step ahead. And there have been a rare few times I've played where I felt like I was the one a step ahead of everyone else and on those days I could even consistently beat people that usually have my number.

It's likely just lag and can effect all your abilities. As it's pretty common for skills not to go off in a crowded Cyrodil. You probably just notice it more for break free because when that misfires it pretty much means instant death.

It's a server problem. This game needs better server infrastructure and capacity.

Because you've also been 'immobilized' as well as snared. Happens all the time with things like 'Northern Storm' I think it's called.

There's a CP ability now called 'slippery' that will automatically break you free once every minute or so. But there are other ways to get around this as well. Certain pots also give you CC Immunity and new CP Tree ties into that in various ways.

I feel your pain op and I'd review the matter further to see what your options are.

Huh, the only time Slippery ever works is when I get hit by one of those electrified Dwarven traps in Bthar-Zel in PvE and auto break free.

I never actually see it work in PvP, which is where I really need it.
