Lorebooks shared across all alts?

Are lorebooks discovered by one alt shared by all alts on the account?

Thanks!

Easily one of the biggest grinds for magicka based characters. One thing that you can do to make the process more bearable is to make sure that you're focusing on completing collections, as there is a significant bonus for finishing a collection. For instance, make sure that you get all of the zone specific lorebooks (Auridon, Grahtwood, Reapers March, etc.) as they are the easiest to complete and you'll be well on your way to leveling up your Mages Guild skill line. If you're not sure where you're at, you can find a check list in your character achievements. Also, the ESO app is a handy tool that you can use to track down and mark which books or Skyshards you have found, and even lets you set up profiles for multiple characters.

Thanks for the info! Follow up question: I though lorebooks were also used as "hint" books of a sort for scryers?

If you are talking about the purple lorebooks, they are for leveling the Mages' Guild skill line.

If you are talking about readable texts in the game (which the game tells you are lorebooks if you are maxed in MG), some could be, but most are just extra information about the game/area/quest you are at, or general lore.

Happy hunting! I assume all of these videos are up to date. I know zos has moved books before. I tried linking the playlist this was under, but it’s just showing one video while I’m on mobile..

Just download an addon that has all the lore book locations. You'll have the books in no time.

There are a few glowing yellow books/papers/scrolls in the world which act as leads, but the vast majority of books are related to Mage's Guild, quests, or general RPG worldbuilding.

Though those leads aren’t lorebooks and can’t actually be read. But you also reminded me that excavations give codex entries that can be reread — although those aren’t under Eidetic Memory either and don’t contribute towards the lorebook count.

Great advice....unless you play on the two consoles

then if you fully unlocked the skill line, continue to support the game's development and buy it with crowns on the other.

I think that Lorebooks should not be shared across all alts... but Eidetic Memory should be. So if you miss a document on one alt, you can get it for the eidetic memory by hitting it with another, so long as this does not mess with quest progress (it usually doesn't: e.g. if you read a quest-related document while not on the actual quest, or if you read it and then drop the quest.)

With 16 characters, I could take out a loan and buy all the skill lines and skyshards for them. Some of the stuff is still nice to go and chase after, especially when you're also unlocking locations on newer characters.
