Companion Question! :o

I know the companions would have dialog and interesting things to say to you while questing with the new zone/expansion right? So my question is would they be doing the same thing with the older zones/quests? I know probably not the super old base-game stuff, but what about previous not-so-old zones/chapters? Like Greymoor, Murkmire, Summerset, Morrowind etc? IF anybody knows this info.

(I made a brand new char today to play really slowly and read stuff and lore and take my time, started in Greymoor. Then that question came to mind. Wouldn't make much sense to do this, and miss out on my companion talking about the stuff Im doing lol.) :cold_sweat:

I haven't tested this much but I'm 99% sure they're not going to comment on zone storylines. It's stuff like when you kill Daedra they say "Yeah I hate Daedra!"

Curious to know the answer to this one as well! I'm thinking of making a character to level through all the story again, in chronological order, with a companion at my side :D

Yup! I made one today, but then I thought of that question in the topic.
So wondering if I should really wait till the companions release in 2-ish weeks to make this new char :*

Well, considering they made the companions more directed towards solo questers, it wouldn't make sense to not have them programmed to respond during older content quests. However, I believe their reactions/comments are going to be quite limited no matter what content we run... from what I've read, a LOT of repeated comments/reactions in regards to the things we're doing. So the comment about, "Yeah I hate Daedra!" type of reaction is probably more of what you can expect since it would have taken so much effort to give them tons of different dialogue for every single zone or quest. They do offer settings on how frequently the companions offer reactions... which tells me that you can expect a lot of repeated commentary... and the settings represent more of an annoyance reduction.

As long as they aren't as annoying as the Dragon's Dogma Pawns.

I actually wish they were as good as the pawns in dragon's dogma. At least you could equip Regular items on them and they tried to do limited teamwork. The good news is there is some ss armor that will be overland functional because the companions can be made to pump out synergies.

Sounds much like Skyrim's companions I guess! Fairly generic comments about the type of enemy you're fighting more than the actual quest you're doing. It's a little disappointing but certainly far from a dealbreaker.

Lydia was sworn to carry your burdens. You are sworn to carry your companions. Lydia could wear your hand me down gear, companions can't. You could craft gear for Lydia, not so much for companions. Other then that, pretty much.

Skyrim was a single player game... ESO is an MMO... and they do not want to make the Companions proficient enough to replace players in multi-player content.

Not as proficient I can understand. However having their gear non craftable, I can't. Having their gear take player inventory space, I can't. What's really bad about that is, they already created the separate inventory bag space space. It would have been easy to make that space like the craft bag. This way you can't have companions as bankers and you aren't their packrats.
Of the things I'm dissatisfied about regarding companions, their proficiency in combat is probably the least. I was expecting that one. I want expecting the others.

I fully agree, and hopefully once the forums fill up with complaints when this Chapter goes Live, they'll actually listen.
