[video] Bow ganking in Imperial City

Hey guys, it's me again. After sharing a footage of my warden bow build, now I would like to share some gameplay of my nightblade bow ganker in Imperial City. I gave it a run there testing some build variations, mixing sets/skills to optimize my character and find the perfect one (or almost) for me towards next patch.

Keep in mind, at least in my opinion, that bow ganking is a lot weaker right now, they nerfed Snipe damage and also took out the stun from ranged stealth attacks which kind of messed up a little bit with my build. I felt the necessity of adding magnum shot on it, to help set up burst combos or just keep targets away (as now is much much harder to "one shot" someone) and I have struggled a lot more when not running with it.

Also, my cp is near 600 right now, so I'm not a very experienced player. In this footage i've faced several higher cp players whose would have high mitigations (i think) and I could do really well. I just love bows and archer/ranger class in any rpg so i'm always trying and testing ways to improve it and keep it efficient from begining. Anyways, here it goes:

Nice video. Most gankers don't use mark as it announces your presence, in my experience

Yeaah, I know and agree with you.. It's just that we are encountering a lot of tanky builds out there right now, so I wanted to try out pushing my penetration as hard as possible, to see if I can get them down. It's also good against other nbs so you can see them for 3s when they cloak in.

It's one of that trade offs you have to think about and it's actually one of my flexible skills I was testing. It went something like this, when I was running Spriggan I could take it of and swap in Vigor for more survival, or you can just have it on and use only on special cases (against tankers)

Also, i found that in Imperial City after ur first attack or player you take down, people tend to be more aware of your presence, so it won't have a big impact on it, but if you are running in Cyrodil might be better to go without. It's definetly something to think about. Thanks on the compliment

    So....what is the build?

I've been mixing around trough the video to get some tests and then making a proper build video with the optimized result, but through my tests i enjoyed a lot some of the following combinations and you can choose the one that suits better to your playstyle:

    (full stealth)
    3-2 Darloc Brae (backbar)
    1-2 Agility (front bar)
    5 Swamp Raider
    1 ring Wild Hunt
    food: Bewitched Sugar Skulls

Comments: With this setup you can run around on stealth very fast for days, never run out of resources and still recover them/healing while doing so and getting less radious detection due to darloc brae. Only thing you need to do is when running around do it on your backbar. Engaged on a fight and other players came along or it doesn't seem that will end well for u? Roll dodge, cloak, change to ur backbar and go sneak, u can escape and immediately start to recover, even sometimes turn back around to finish ur target. If u want more damage and don't care about the extra speed (u can also always slot Concealed Weapon on your backbar) u take off the wild hunt ring, throw in a Kragh 1 piece and go 3 agility, 3-2 swamp raider (frontbar) and 3-2 Darloc Brae (backbar). Piercing Marking is desirable here to improve your damage.

    (full dmg/penetration)
    5 swamp raider
    5 spriggans
    1 kragh
    1 balorgh
    drink: Dubious Camoran Throne

Comments: On this setup u trade a little bit of resources to do more damage, it works better against tanky opponents. Even 30k+ health can go down when you manage to land a full combo (lethal arrow, light attack, poison injection, magnum shot, toxic barrage). You will really only need ultimate agains tank targets. Dubious Camoran Throne (or lava foot soup) is a must here or you will run out of stamina pretty often. Also is very interesting to level up Leggedermain so you can cut up to 90% the cost from sneaking when combined to ur cp passives. If you want/feel confortable using Piercing Mark you can also trade Spriggans for another offensive set, like New Moon (and change one Balorgh to one Stormfist) or Marksman (which helps a lot with your sustain while also giving you a little bit of extra damage).

I still have some tests to do with Archer's Mind and Marksman though to finalize my build video so I will get back to you on that, but I already think that Marksman is solid first choice set to pair up with any of the others aswell.

Keep in mind that these setups are all focusing on poison/disease damage, so you will have to stick with poison injectio, lethal arrow, toxic barrage and relentless focus as your damage options abilities. If you want a more upfront/direct burst damage you can always change Swamp Raider for New Moon and make the Lethal Arrow plus Silver Shards combo, which hits harder upfront but I found that to be less effective on long term. Again, against robust targets it's good to keep up the pressure on your opponents as poison dmg does.

Mundus Stone: Lover through all builds
    Armor traits: all divines
    Weapon trait: Sharpened

    Weapon trait: defensive/powered backbar
Jewelry: all infused with weapon dmg glyphs

Vampire: At least stage 1 for the Dark Stalker passive
Race: I find that Dark Elf and Wood Elf are the best races for these builds

So that's about it, anything you wanna know feel free to ask

No, actually I chose IC cause right now it is the only environment where I can test these builds with CP enabled, as Swamp Raider, Darloc Brae and Wild Hunt all won't work on Cyrodiil :).

But I have a lot of footage on bg's aswell, finishing with high kill numbers and some good gameplay, making great use of these builds. I can also put them togheter and make a BG focused video "against pvpers" lol.

I have some Cyrodill clips too even if im a little bit shorter on that cause, as I wrote on video description, I was focusing on testing builds which i'm using next patch, so I wasn't going much there last month. When I went, I used 5 Draugr Hulk, 5 Spriggan, 1 Kragh and 1 Balorgh. I can send you if you are interested

    Peace

Thanks dude  yeaah for those who like this playstyle I can tell you that it really is, specially with darloc brae which gives you a lot of recover while sneaking around forever hehe

As long as your target does not have like over 30k HP, or isn't a magden with all of it's buffs up. Whether they only PVE, or actually PVP is irrelevant.

On this video I was running a Dark Elf which worked pretty well for me. Khajiit passives are still very good for ganking but I personally would choose the Wood Elf recover, stamina and penetration bonuses over that 10% crit dmg. It's almost impossible to reach a penetration cap, since there are a lot of tanky targets out there and I think there will be even more next patch, due to the cut on health recovery in half, I think those players will stack more armor/resistances

You should try sniping with Kvatch Gladiator - especially when two enemy teams fighting eachother - then sometimes you can even use bombard :D
