Returning player can't decide on what class to play

Unable to decide on class to play with my friend. I've created a necromancer but I'm seeing I'm not that great at it, I've never played warden but I'm interested in it since it's the closest thing to a druid (would much rather have a class with offensive plant-based abilities) and then there's Templar which I've had a lot of fun with in a lot of luck with. PvE does not matter to me, I can have fun with any class in that and run with it, itall comes down to PVP, not 1v1 but large scale too small scale I guess. Just trying to decide what would be best for me I do enjoy a good amount of AOE and I also enjoy ranged,face-to-face combat is not my thing, usually. Would love to hear everybody's opinions and give me advice on what to play just trying to understand the classes that I've listed and go from there. thank you for all your help guys

Sounds like magicka warden could be perfect for you.
Magden is good in pvp, even more in larger scale fights. Good aoe dps potential, good survivability, can fight ranged and if you play with friend warden got some good healing and support skills for preserving allies too. Fun and versatile class.

Well, pvp capable class with good amount of AoE on range - the answer is imho only one: MagSorc ;)

If PVP is your goal, I am hard pressed to say anything but Warden. Either mag or stam can be played effectively, but if there is a king of PVP at the moment, its stam warden, and that has been true for a while.

I am going to give an honorable mention to mag sorc. I think they are easier to play, and in bigger skirmishes, they are great for picking off low health targets. A good Stam Warden will beat a Good mag sorc in a 1v1, all else equal, and in small scale stuff, I believe warden is stronger.

Mag Sorcs are particularly strong in the no proc meta. Mostly because they were the one spec that thrived off stacking resources, so when they removed procs, they didnt really feel it. In other words, most classes got a nerf with no proc, sorcs stayed the same, so it felt like a buff.

If range is non negotiable, then mag sorc for the win. A Stam Warden will need to get up close and personal.
