Inn Question

This is a two part question, the second part being the Inn part. First why is it no matter what faction my characters are they all start out in Western Skyrim? Second why is it that a character that is part of the Daggerfall Covenant couldn't get a room at Daggerfall, was only able to get a room at Western Skyrim? If I did something wrong I'd like to know as I have a second character of that faction and would like at least her to get the freebe inn room in Daggerfall when the quest becomes available.

I believe you get one inn room for free per character based on alliance. So I would imagine you would get the DC house for free if you made a DC character, since you already own the one in
    w. Skyrim. Alternately you could just buy the others as they only cost like 3000 gold each.

This is a two part question, the second part being the Inn part. First why is it no matter what faction my characters are they all start out in Western Skyrim?
This is how the game has been since, I guess, Morrowind. Any new character that you create will start out on the latest chapter.

If I'm not mistaken, that will be corrected with the new chapter (Blackwood) where they'll be introducing a new tutorial that allows players to choose where to start.
Second why is it that a character that is part of the Daggerfall Covenant couldn't get a room at Daggerfall, was only able to get a room at Western Skyrim? You can only get one free inn room per character. If I'm understanding you right, you got the one in Skyrim and now that character cannot get another.

You can get all the free inn rooms by creating other characters and using them to acquire a room. Just for clarity's sake, you cannot acquire the same room more than once.

Thanks for this. That's interesting. I have three new characters prepped but haven't started them as I'd like to get the newest one up to 50 first.

No, the character I'm working on is a Breton Warden and I wanted her to get a room in Daggerfall but the room lady wouldn't finish out the quest and give her one. I went back to W. Skyrim and got one there. Now that I think about it, I may have started the process in W.Skyrim and changed my mind and that was the reason. So there is that. I bet that's the problem.

With the new chapter in june the starting tutorial changes - you then will be able to choose the area where your char starts after the tutorial. So it never will be that your new chars all start in one zone.

Yep, that's the problem! there are two ways to get the free inn room quest ('Room to Spare'):
1 - get the "Room to Spare" Housing Brochure from the Crown Store (which starts the quest)
2 - go to an Inn location and pick up the Quest there.

You probably picked up the quest from a flyer in Western Skyrim, so the quest directed you to the nearest Inn. When trying to get a free inn on a character, I recommend going to the Inn location that you want, and picking up the quest from Felande Demarie from there right outside of the door directly, to make sure you're offered the inn that you want.

As the others have said you can only get 1 free Inn Room quest per 1 character, so you'll need to create alts if you want the other ones. The Chapter Inn Rooms can be gotten with a character from any faction, but the AD / DC / EP Inn Rooms require you to do the quest on a character from that faction.

So in your case, for the Daggerfall Inn Room, you should create another DC alt character (you can just skip the tutorial and travel to Daggerfall, no need to level up or anything) and take the quest from Felande Demarie right there outside of the Rosy Lion. That should give you the DC inn for sure, and then you can even delete that character if you want, you'll still have the Inn.
