Feel free to share your personal drama about times you were scammed in-game by someone re trade, gear, cod, etc., and bring lots of pop corn B)

Wasn't directly involved in this one, but the other day I was chilling in Riften when I saw someone offer 100k on zone chat for a werewolf bite. I'm like "wut" and whisper the to let them know this is a scam and don't pay 100k for something most people will give you for free. To my shock the player replied they were fully aware and were just trying to bait scammers and stir drama! Wow, the nerve! :D

I reworded the OP to include more possible answers, which was the intention from the beginning

Not really scammed. After the game had been going for about a year if someone needed something I would send it then tell them to send back however much gold they wanted. Was only burned one time and that was by a guild member.

Also loaned a guild member 100k to get furniture from the luxury vendor and they never bothered to repay. I didn't ask for it though so maybe they forgot. Haven't been burned by a stranger yet.

On the other side I often have players give me gold for trial gear even when I tell them it is free.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

How about an "attempted" scam. Back when trading person to person was buggy, a guild mate said someone wanted to buy something from the guild store. This person didn't want to pay the listed price and asked the guild mate to remove it from the store and trade in person. Well this guy did the accept/decline thing until and was able to get the item without paying. The guild mate told the everybody in the guild about it including his name. The very next day this same person whispered me the same story about not wanting to pay the listed price and asked to trade in person. I only responded with, "You are a known scammer". He tried to play it off as a mistake, but why believe a liar.

A supposed friend offered to craft me a few pieces of furniture. I told him I wasn't sure how much Culanda Lacquer he needed. He said I could just give him what I had and he would pass back whatever he didn't use. And, for some reason, I believed him. I asked him for the extras back when he was done and he said he was going to use it to make more stuff. (He is no longer a friend for a whole bunch of reasons.)

LOL. Go play Eve Online and go to Jita. So many helpful people with deals for you. They can double your ISK, if you just give them some. ;)

Saw someone selling crowns for 100g each, I wanted 10k crowns without checking if their account was new or if they were trusted. ZOS gave me a refund of 400k of it and said "Sorry best we can do"

Now I only trade with people I've bought from before, and even then for the smallest thing first, then trade for the next thing. It takes more time but I'm out less if they decide to cut and run (which they don't, since I typically pay more than going rate)

Only once, because I didn't listen to my gut that the person was scamming since they were a guildmate in a trading guild with dues. He was also offering standard going rates for crowns. What made me suspicious was that he was talking in a very weird, stilted, cheesy way. Like he was the advertiser for a used car commercial. It was really bizzare but I brushed it off and I shouldn't have. He was also new.

Now I instantly don't trade with anyone acting cagey or strange, guildmate or not. And only from members who have been in the guild for a long time.

Thankfully my wonderful guildmates instantly made up for it. All chipped into refund my coins, and even gifted me the crown item I had wanted free of charge. Wonderful guild. Made me truly appreciate how good people can be too.

I was scammed by a guild store. Accidentally bought a level 25 staff for 100K

I now no longer buy from that guild store and never will.

Major trading guild that always keeps their spot in a high traffic location.
