The devs of this game for going on years now have been using tests and excuses to dodge the reality of why this game plays so poorly, especially in Cyrodil with gear, class, group size and whatever other changes to cover up the fact that ZOS has progressively and deliberately cut server capacity for what I assume is to reduce costs.
I get on for the first time in a week to play, wait in queue, ride to the nearest keep to be instantly disconnected when its within render range, how is this level of performance both possible and acceptable in a title like this? During midyear mayhem, the Imperial City event as well as other area events there are in some campaigns and areas exponentially more players with a fraction of the performance issues, showing that when ZOS want to, the game can be made to run like clockwork.
For a game that has 1. A base cost 2. A premium subscription service thats basically essential to participate in the crafting aspects of the game 3. An overpriced item store (that coupled with constant race meta changes forces players to pay to maintain the BIS race) and 4. A Yearly “expansion” not covered by the premium subscription service or purchasable using the in game currency its hard to believe that it can perform so incredibly poorly with so many income streams for the one product. Its crazy to think that ZOS continues to tease and promise new paid content for a patchwork wreck of a game that only seems to get worse and worse each update.
ZOS needs to do far better to bring the game up to a playable standard if they want to continue to receiving money from me for a product I have already spent literally thousands to play. The fact that nearly any post seen as critical of either the studio or the group outsourced to police the forums is deleted, only further reinforces the reason many players move from the official forum to the likes of Reddit to voice their complaints and concerns, and why many people have outright given up on this game. Right now Im one of the many that has put this game on the backburner and soon to be one of even more that has stopped nearly all together if things don’t drastically improve.
