Scavenger Hunt. Allow us to drop one item on the ground

Would be a nice guild event or even a zone event. Allow peeps to drop one item or gold on the ground and it disappears after a certain time limit so as to not clutter up the servers. I think it would be fun to have guild event like this where a nice armor piece or gold is hidden with clues.

The first mmo I played, Ultima Online, this was possible, and very fun.

Hide the player. Whoever finds him first will receive a prize.

We have done that before, it's quite fun!

There was also junk scattered all over the towns because players would basically just litter everywhere.

It's a nice idea but I think ZOS are having enough trouble with their servers and that would only add to it.

Basically, implementing such the "drop parties" means providing a strong support for the Real-Money-Trade, which is, clearly, the violation of TOS.

If you ever saw a carrot or a potato listed for millions of gold at Guild Traders - that is a common fraud, where player, who listed such a unit is, most often, a gold seller client (as noone in his right mind would not buy a carrot for 1M gold, except a gold seller, who, in such way, buying too overpriced junk, transfers gold to the player who payed him real money for the gold in question).
Needless to say, such questionable trades are logged at the servers, and AI can spot a fraudulent activity and alert Game-makers.

    Now imagine this:
ZOS: Player1, you are suspected in RMT. What you got these 35M gold for?
Player1: found the money laying on the ground, right next to a wayshrine. What a lucky find, yes?

The ability to control drops and pick-ups is really very hard to implement, as Guild Store is a database, gold transfer via ingame mail is also easy to trace, while a dropped stuff is just a dropped stuff (e.g. not structured transactions).

In my humble opinion, it is better NOT to have the mechanics in question. It may (and most likely will) be exploited.

The closest thing to this I have heard is a person hunt. Someone hid somewhere on the map, gave a few clues, and then the first one in their guild to find them got a reward.

A guild I used to be in did that once. I won.
