Weapon Drops, Sticker Book, and Research Idea

Just read my 57th thread on a Medusa fire staff and had a thought...

First, the sticker book is one of the best things ESO has done in a good long while IMO. Second, Weapon Drops are still far and away the biggest issue in terms of a gear farm. They typically only drop in chests and final bosses (not counting overland sets). Third, 9 trait crafting is massively time consuming, and essentially worthless as it stands.

Here is my thought. Once you have acquired the armor and jewelry of set, allow 9 trait crafters to research weapons for their books. How many sets/items you can do at once, length of research time, etc., would certainly need to be worked out. Cost would probably need addressed as well, maybe 25-50 transmutes and the normal inputs to the item in question. You could perhaps do something similar with arena weapons once you say have more than 3/4s of them. This could easily be applied to trial sets as well of course. Remember, the goal is to give the grind a finish line, not eliminate it.

But even if you could only do one at a time and it was something long 30 days, it would still be very useful IMO. It would curb but not eliminate the weapon grind and also make 9 trait crafting actually useful. It also seems like it would fit easily from a lore/RP perspective. My crafter who is 9 traits in say destruction staffs, and has collected 9 pieces of a gear (armor and Jewelry). It doesn't seem too far fetched to think she could make a staff from this set with a little time and research.

Just a thought. Curious to hear what you guys think. Will probably turn to a nerf sorc thread by page 3.

Agree. Nice idea. Good perk for 9 trait crafters. As you say, 'the goal is to give the grind a finish line, not eliminate it'. Also would give high level, established crafters something to do with those daily reward research scrolls instead of simply destroying them (I have two full 9 trait crafters and don't need any more).

You know, this is actually an interesting idea.

It's painful that weapons are so hard to come by (it always seems to me the final bosses favor dropping jewelry over any weapons), but this would need to be really balanced to not just get rid of the grind.

I do think it would be interesting to have a use for those Crown Research Scrolls we get monthly and also the Metallurgy/Carpentry/Stitching/Lapidary passives and the Inspiration Boost CP star after everything has been researched.

I could easily see it needing at least the same amount of time as your research passive calls for, only able to do one at a time, needing all 9 traits for the weapon you want, and needing to consume another weapon from the same set (dropped or reconstructed) in order to get it.

    Oh I like this idea!
Say you have x number of pieces in a set, or to simplify (since some sets have more pieces than others) once you are under 40 crystals cost to remake a set piece, you can research 1 piece of your choice.
