MagSorc shock glyph vs flame

Dear all,

Just wondering if its better for sorc to have shock glyphs on main hand vs flame? Due to sorc passive shock does have a larger tool tip, so shouldn't it be stronger?

In trail groups fire is stronger because DKs usually debuff the target with Engulfing Flames and Encratis monster set so the targets takes more fire dmg. Shock enchant has a 20% chance to proc off-balance so it helps everyone in the group deal more dmg. Usually healers will apply off-balance so DDs can fully spec into dmg.

If you play solo the shock enchant will be better in most cases.

Disagree, the flame enchant has 52% to proc burning (after destro staff passives and cp) and it deals so much more damage than the counterpart (concussion)

In the current live environment, off balance doesn't help with damage for most builds. Stamden using dive gets an extra bleed; magDK using flame lash gets bonus damage (but almost all magDKs would use the other morph in PvE). I think the most general advantages remaining to off balance are the increased resource return on a heavy attack, and there's a stun from a medium /heavy attack in cases where the enemy is susceptible to CC.

My general rule of thumb on sorc is Fire for PVE (more total damage, especially in proper group), Shock for PVP (more upfront burst).
