Nonsense Breton Poll X )

Not sure why this is the first time I'm thinking of it but, aside from stature, can Bretons be considered the Hobbits of Nirn?
Karliah, when will you learn?!!

    Imo, I think Bretons are too political and ambitious to be considered similar to Hobbits. Unless you are referring to the idea that Hobbits are halflings, just like Bretons are part human part Elf, in which case I see where you are coming from.

    when I think of hobbits I think of dwarfs, and the only dwarves I've seen in ESO are the cannibals.

    Not even a little bit, and my joints ache at just the thought of the mental gymnadtics one would have to do to reach such a conclusion.
    Not sure why this is the first time I'm thinking of it

    Probably because it is, as the title implies, a nonsensical thought.

    Yeah. It's just the resistance to magic thing. It does kind of make me laugh to attribute something dire and existence-saving need be the destiny of a Breton. And ONLY a Breton XD.

    Maybe it's just Rieklings then? But it needs to take on a Tamrielic twist, so (like the Falmer) Rieklings will be Hobbits when Tamriel is Middle Earth. After Akatosh chooses.

    Arguably Bretons would be closer to those Gondorians descended from the royal Numenorians who still have traces of their elven heritage from Elros, the half-elven first king of Numenor (Elrond Half-Elven's brother). (Yes, Arwen and Aragorn are 1st cousins many, many, many generations removed.)

    People like Aragorn especially, but also Denethor, Faramir, and Boromir seem to have somewhat extended lifespans compared to the Rohirrim or other types of Men descended from other groups.

    That being said, "half-elven" is extremely rare in Tolkien's mythos and has some pretty specific connotations. It's not really its own race, so much you either live as a Man or an Elf. It often ends up as a curse because you don't really fit with either Men or Elves, and wind up separated from some of your family members in the "afterlife" as they make their own choices.

    @VaranisArano

    I forgot to think about the implications of extended life in Bretons, up until that post, as well. Hobbits are somehow all Bombadil's doing (hardcores I'm joking), but tbf, I saw an Argonian become a crocodile (willfully and on purpose no less!) so I'm going to dig as deep as I can to find something cohesive.
