We've never been able to gift items w/ crown gems?
Nothing's changed, fits with past precedent.

Thank you for the info... whilst I accept that, how is it fair?
I've spent the (hard earned) money on these crown crates, why should it matter if I want an item for myself or to gift it to someone else?

I get you.I would also want to be able to gift my hubby a 400 gem mount as I am the one opening crates sometimes but he does not very often,an option to gift gem items would be ideal.
But I guess they won't implement that because then some people would literally sell all the items from crates for gold.
Hardly seems fair.

Why?
Just the idea of being able to gift regular cash shop items is relatively new in this game, and not available at all in many other games I've seen. It would never occur to me to expect this gifting ability at all.
(or, from a more cynical viewpoint - they want people to only get crate items if they actually buy crates. If you could gift someone an item - rather than them needing to get X number of crates to acquire it randomly - it would be a loss of sales. As opposed to regular crown store items, which being direct purchase, will always get them the same number of crowns for every account that gets one, regardless of who is spending the crowns. Rar, crates evil!™ )
Anyway, look at it this way - you've got the ability to just buy whatever crate items (ok, aside from further Super Big Ticket ones) in future seasons, without needing to buy any more crates.

I get where you’re coming from, it’s just, with the radiant apex, I can’t buy them outright, only with crown gems. What’s the difference whether I use my own gems to get the item for myself or gift it to someone else? Either way, the crown gems will be gone and if I want the item for myself as well, I’ll either need to have already had enough for a second purchase (in which case, I’ve spent a hell of a lot on crates already), or, I will need to buy more for myself.

It's not just radiant apex mounts though. The same is true of everything which can be bought with crown gems.
Sometimes there are a few items which had previously been in the crown store for direct sale and then were removed, but they're still not available for direct purchase at the time they're in the crates, and the majority of things have never been available except from crates or with gems.
Like Kiralyn explained it would lead to lower crate sales because many players would be able to find someone willing to gift/sell them the items they wanted rather than having to buy crates to try for them or to amass enough gems to buy it themselves.
It would be much nicer for players if it was possible to gift crown gem items, but it would also be less profitable for ZOS and while they don't want to be too unfair to players they do need to make sure their game is profitable.Nastassiya wrote: »If it were possible to gift items from crown gems then people would sell the crate rewards. It might well make sense in a free-to-play game, but ESO is not F2P. You can play without paying a reoccurring subscription, but you still have to buy the game to do it.
