Why doesn't necromancer use soul gems?

I mean it would work if you can use soul gems for abilities if there arent any corpses.

You can double cast your Bone Armor, Skeletal Mage, or Spirit Mender to force a corpse though.

Thematically sure, but most players have so many soul gems it would effectively remove the small gameplay limit Necromancers have.

But they first must have been active for 2/3 of their full duration, otherwise they do not spawn corpses.
