Why don't identical enchants stack?

It's how mmos get players to pay for storage by with artificially convoluted items. If you look closely, the same enchants have different racial styles making them different. In the crafting station, only the same enchants with the same crafting style stacks.

Likely a limitation with the engine.

That's the boring but most realistic reason.

I have seen someone mention that they're a wear item. As such, each is coded as a unique item. This made sense to me with a weapon enchant, though not as much the rest. For the rest is might just be that Zenimax lumped all into one basket as a result of the weapon enchant.

Are you sure it is different and not an artifact of what it is applied to? How do you look at a raw enchant anyway?

The ones you craft won't have a style, but the ones you loot do. I can see the styles when I mouseover them, may be due to an addon, also if you use the default game's deconstruct window, you will notice some of the same enchants stack but not with others of the same type, it's because only the same type of enchant with the same racial style stack. If they just removed the racial styles and made them all stack would save me so many clicks deconstructing them.
