This is why I'm worried about companions (Screenshot)

For this quest, the guy came to follow me and help me out in a public dungeon. Turns out, he was a total nimwit. Notice how the boss "lept up" into the wall. This dumb companion kept causing the boss to regenerate his health to 100%. At first, I thought it was me, I was firing my spells on it, but then I finally stood right next to the boss, right in Mele range, and the boss kept regenerating as it engaged this clunk head NPC. I finally had to run away to force the NPC to follow me. Then stuff respawned behind me, it was a big time waster.

I sure hope companions aren't this bad and cause bosses to regenerate their health.

NPC and pet AI in this game is just horrible. This will happen no matter what. As a Sorcerer I get to summon my Clannfear underneath the ground, it's basically there as I can activate the healing skill, but in reality the Clannfear is just stuck underneath and can do nothing, doesn't aggro, isn't visually recognizable etc.

Companions will cause a ton of chaos in this game due to various reasons - it's really beyond me how an already clunky and buggy game like ESO wants to introduce a new feature that will double down on the clunkiness of the game and its engine. I'm sure within one month after launch ZOS wishes they'd never introduced the feature because it will result in so many issues and bugs.

You were fighting "The Fallen Foreman" boss in Darkshade Caverns 2 dungeon right? The boss was not regenerating mate, he was resetting.

That is a bug. Nothing to do with NPC allies or companions. There are several encounters in base game dungeons that sometimes just resets (several times) for no apparent reason. DC2 has 2 such buggy encounters I've seen, that boss you saw, and the massive dwemer squad outside last boss. Arx Corinium has that boss right after the bridge.

And PvE enemies going out of terrain is such a common bug, especially in base game dungeons. Harpies in Blackheart haven just drives me crazy. Sometimes their collision detection just doesn't work.

Again, they have nothing to do with NPC allies or companions.

It does though, they usually reset when there is an enemy in combat with them outside of their combat range, which the companion obviously was (in arc she will reset until everyone comes of the bridge closer to her), it is more of intended behaviour (bad intended behaviour) than a bug. A real bug happens in vDoM, where the orb boss randomly restarts. Now that's a bug.

Yes, I apologize 'reset" is the right word, he was definitely resetting. The problem was that blasted NPC kept engaging him and I'm fairly certain (not positive) the NPC's tactics were the catalyst for the boss getting reset. I couldn't move that dumb NPC. If the dumb NPC would have moved further out, drawing the boss out of the wall, I believe the boss would not have reset. But the NPC kept that boss right up into the wall, the NPC was too dumb to move away.

Come to think of it, that looks like DC1. It also has a fire mage boss that sometimes goes inside the cave wall and become immune to most type of damage.

Usually being the keyword there. Foreman boss has reset on me several times in a row when I was soloing DC2 for story, I was right on his face and had no pets or NPC allies of any kind. Also have seen it happen when doing pledges with guildmates. Agree on the arx, she does stop resetting once everyone is past the bridge.

Does your companion have a taunt? If you get aggro and move away, you can pull him out, and then you stand between him and the wall because mages in this game always run away backwards facing you so he won't end up in the wall.

This boss also has a healing skill, he's not regenerating but charging the healing, you can interrupt him to stop it, except when he's in the wall of course..

Yes, it was in DC1, all i know is that the NPC is directly to blame for that boss being up in the wall. Had the NPC not been there, that boss would have been dead 3 times over. He really was terrible. If the "tactics" of this NPC represent in any way the tactics of companions...ruh roh. lol

People only post in GENERAL because (at times) it seems only general is glanced over by the powers...

& companions so far make bears look great :(

This isn't even a companion issue, just fix the occlusion for that wall with the boss, easy fix.

This issue happens regularly for players running DS1.

That boss in darkshade caverns regularly goes into the wall and has a healing skill that needs to be interrupted. It just went into the wall and full healed.

The problem is that the team looking at PTS feedback will follow the PTS forum during major test runs, but people post on the General board and then complain that no acknowledgement is made of their feedback. I wonder why!
