Pantherfang Chapel Feedback

I definitely want to give the housing team my utmost compliments on this house.
You've heard our feedback and made a house with three direct routes to each individual section of the house making it easy to cut off any aspect someone doesn't like.

The house is certainly still massive in style which means you can never 'fully' decorate all of it but it's a much better step forward not having to waste 70-150 slots simply blocking off the parts of the house path that we don't want to keep in order to better decorate the rest.

My only real qualms with the house are the very top point of the Chapel and Fort areas.

I'd really love a natural method such as a ladder to get to these areas. The view is incredible on top of the chapel and I love the ambient fireflies visual you can see into the marshes.
On top of the Fort is an amazing flat area that's perfect for a crafting area with some side air for expansion platforms.

Again I'd like to leave it off on the positive note that I think this Estate stands head and heels above previous ones in how adaptive it is to the decorator. This is a major step forward in helping us work with the housing team to circumvent the furniture limit issues by making houses more friendly to our ambitions and saving us precious slots. I'm delighted with the home and I hope to see more in the future that make the same effort of acclimation that this one has achieved.

As always I welcome anyone else to give their input and opinions.

Hmm, I'm sorry to disagree but I don't think this mini-zone makes a good player home. I think it's beautifully designed. I think the aesthetics and layout are great. BUT.... I think it's just too huge to decorate with only 700 items. I see your point about the access routes but I think that's a mediocre solution to a problem that they have artificially created. In my view, that's like complimenting the builder for adding more lights after they forgot to put in windows!!
Having spent a lot of time in this house yesterday, personally for me, my feedback is that once again they have designed a house with little regard for the frustrating impossibilities imposed by the item limit. How many times are they going to tell us that they hear us and they listen but then just ignore the problem anyway?!
The very fact that they have created passages to different parts of the house indicates that they do realise the sheer impossibility of being able to decorate this home in its entirety. So I say again, a mediocre solution to an unnecessary problem of their own doing.
Sorry to take a disagreeing stance but I really feel strongly about this one.

    I'm with you.

House is gorgeous. Designers did a great job and should feel proud. Still feels like a slap in the face regarding the insanely low item limit to be giving us another mega-mansion, especially considering the likely high price tag on said mega-mansion. Starting to feel like they're mocking us at this point.

It's kind of a shame, because us house addicts want this castle. At the same time it's frustrating knowing that with the size you can not have the freedom of truly decorating this castle. I love love the mega mansions, I really dislike the furnishing limit. I know the post at the top is pinned I know what it says. What I don't know is if anyone is working on solving this or if we just stay on hold. It really is a beautiful design and the artists out did themselves. I don't want to appear ungreatful for all the masterful designs. Zos creations of housing allows us to create a space to express ourselves.

I just had hoped we would get a bit of 'we are working on it' at the very least. I absolutely dislike having to gripe about the furniture limit. I don't like rubbing salt into people's wounds. I know they see the amazing creations that the housing community has come up with. Just think what a increase would yield in creativity. What a way to show case your game! Quality building materials and creative people connecting with the artists of Zos it's a win win for the company and players. I rambled a bit. Sorry

Unless the item limit is increased it makes no sense to buy the house, nice as it may be. Its just too big for 700 slots, triple that and I'll consider buying it.

I agree it's so big that there is no way to furnish it properly. You'll run out of slots long before you can finish. Also, I have to say I don't like houses that are segmented this much, it's like a bunch of disconnected houses in a way all tossed into the same space. It's the main reason I passed on Stone Eagle Aerie and why I'll pass on this one.

    [Removed quote]

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you there. Just because we the housing community are desperate for slots, doesn’t mean that we should take it out on the other added features like Companions. I’m tired of the grind but it’s part of my near-daily routine to do DLC daily quests for furnishing material (culanda, arkhzand, sand) and I never get any help doing them, so anything that helps my housing grind I appreciate.

I agree that the housing slots should have been like 800+ a long time ago since it makes no sense that a step up from a Classic 600 is a mere 700. But if ALL of the houses started being “small but with 700” then we would have people who would complain about that too. I remember looking back at the threads and people talking about “what’s the best base game 600 slot house” and people saying that Old Mistveil, because it had the smallest perimeter, was the worst out of them.

I like having options on what to do with a house. I like to custom build things. I need space for that. I don’t always want “small.” I don’t always want “one or two rooms.” I need breathing room. I don’t want to be cramped. And I like the variations in areas that people use and block off, makes them feel like different houses and people can make them their own. So you can dislike large houses, and that’s fine. Personally I like large houses the more we get items that reduce our slot count. I was able to make use of the Psijic Villa for the first time in most areas due to the Markarth structure stuff. I just don’t want feedback like this to discourage them from making big homes EVER. We have Water’s Edge. They can’t please everyone with one house.

I like Pantherfang Chapel, so I’m going to make the most of it.

I really enjoyed the previews on this house but it was more disappointing than excitement because I realized that houses are just getting bigger and bigger and more elaborate but our item cap stays the same. I understand that ZOS says it's hard to increase it but if that cannot be improved on, why give us homes we cannot fully furnish?

I also was disappointed in the new furnishing. Most of it was just modifications of old furnishing and lacked creativity. I also was irritated they picked red, RED!!! We already have so many styles and furnishing that comes in red. What comes to mind right now is Redguard, Vampiric, Khajiit, Elsweyr, Hew's Bane are all primarily red. I wish they'd utilize more color schemes and find some more use for blues and purples.

There's been a lot of demand for old datamined items that were never released to be released. Also issues with some platforms and building items not being perfectly square or even such as Elsweyr platforms and Solitude doors not fitting Solitude Arch etc. We finally get a windowed item but it's just a rock with a stained glass insert, it doesn't fit the size or measurement of the Markarth walls. We get a tower but no spiral staircases or curved staircases?

I mean I'm going overboard in my feedback now but I feel like it all flows from one problem to another. I'm always excited by every new update and furnishing/housing but there's always a void, drawback, or problems. For all the hype caused over Blackmoor, I feel it's been deflated by all these cookie cutter furnishing and lack of ability to truly enjoy the new house and contents as it feels half completed. Either way, I am likely to buy all the homes and acquire the plans over time but unlike Markarth I will not be in any rush for it because I don't think it's as valuable or desirable to make me want to "gotta have em all" collector's dream grab em all as soon as possible behaviors lol.

I believe there are 3 large buildings? I'll probably block the door to one with a Stained glass window, avoid doing anything structural and focus on the courtyard and other two buildings.

I already have a fun idea for the Chapel that's a bit different and should be doable in 100 slots or less.

Honestly? It's not that big. No, seriously, hear me out. Volume-wise, you can almost fit the entire castle into the main room of Varlaisvea Ayleid Ruins... Or take a look at Earthtear Caverns, it's a giant open cave with tons of water. Not to mention Grand Topal Hideaway which has a village and an even bigger whole ISLAND. And it was one of the earliest Notable homes they made. So I don't think houses are getting obnoxiously bigger.

Space depends a lot on what you want to do with it. Loads of houses have far more space than Pantherfang Chapel, people just probably don't look at those spaces as 'need-to-fill-with-furnishing' spaces (Hall of the Lunar Champion, Hunter's Glade, etc). The main hall of Varlaisvea for example has a relatively small surface area... but if you look at the height and volume of the space as building potential, it's ginormous. What Pantherfang Chapel has, compared to other houses I guess, is many pre-made buildings with surfaces that sort of offer themselves up to be furnished in an obvious manner.

But what Pantherfang Chapel also has, is an amazing layout that is easily detachable. You have 3 potential pathways from the entry, and you can ignore / close off a lot of them. The castle also has room divisions that you can just detach by walling off the doorways, or you can skip an entire level by simply creating a lower ceiling with platforms. Many of the areas are also relatively small. Such as the yard (it has a lot of water, rocks, and battlement pathways that are sort of already 'done' without needing to build extra on it, unlike Moonsugar Meadow for example - just put up some lights, fill the stable with mounts and it's ready - siege weapons on the ramparts are optional); or the crypts (the underground is really just 3 narrow corridors and 2 stairways, not much room for furniture there).

Anyway, of course I 100% agree that more slots would be awesome, but I don't think Pantherfang is worse than previous houses. I'm really looking forward to it, and I appreciate having a good layout. Also, bonus points for whoever designed the castle elements, they really knew their stuff - it has proper narrow windows, good height crenelations, and also has machicolations and murder holes... *medievalgasm*:smiley: The only thing it's missing is a moveable portcullis and a drawbridge.

I wish the entrance wasn't through the chapel. It doesn't make much sense to me. You're going to bring horses and supplies through a church first? I'd love for the entrance to be elsewhere.

For larger houses you need to use larger items. They will fill up the space more with less items wandering around. I will use a large furniture piece and then smaller pieces to embellish it. Save little details like food on tables, for smaller houses.

@bluebird I agree, and I like the house for pretty much the same reasons! *Medieval and Imperialness intensifies*

In addition to this, neither forts nor chapels are filled with items and clutter. They are buildings that are often somewhat sparse with their interior. Especially chapels. The house is big, but making it look nice and proper for what it is won't require much.
